This match makes me wonder who is a servebot here. :p :p
100% points won after first serve by Rafa in first set, 35/39 overall.
Only 3 UEs in whole match - all were double faults, 17 winners.
Isner 27-21.

Are you saying he didn't make a single UE from the baseline?

Re: Madrid R3: [4] Nadal def. [16] Isner 6-4 6-4

The reason Na dull's UE count is non-existent is because Isner's movement is also non-existent. Na dull doesn't have to hit his strokes at above 80% potency like he does against superior defense opponents. Once he's up against somebody who can actually run, and somebody who possesses a weapon - he's done for. Those UEs will show.

Even a scoreline of 6-4 6-0 is a mirage. More fuel to the ponzi scheme, which by definition is based on a lack of foundation. Na dull doesn't have that foundation to win Rome or RG.

That was the best Nadal has looked on the clay this year so far. He may still play crap the next day but at least he has some great tennis in him.

Isner's return of serve on the backhand is looking great; no one will want to play him at RG.

Clinical if not spectacular show.
No let ups, good focus, good execution..
Rafa has recovered nicely from the Madrid fiasco against Andy.
Looks promising.
His Serve and variety , his excellent defence skiils and that forehand ,,,, GOOD.
Enough reasons to look forward to RG with hope and confidence

Rafa is starting to look confident in his game again, just in time for Roland Garros. :)

Just imagine if everything were to suddenly 'fall into place' for Nadal. Fognini beating Berdych (leads him 2-0 on clay and 2-1 overall), Djokovic beating Nishikori, a Fedal semi for Nadal to regain his confidence, and then using that confidence in the final to grab the #4 seed. He'd be saved from a Djokovic QF by the slimmest of margins.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Two reasons: Isner today was choosing weird moments to step in and usually it ended with UE, but from him. And Rafa was patient and focused today. No any signs of lapses, very stable performance. Some clinical passing shots from him too.

Too early to say anything about Nadal's game. Let´s first see how he will play against a good mover. 6-4 6-4 vs Isner would be 6-4 6-4 against Djokovic or Murray (Nadal losing)

We said the same thing after the Berdych match, before he capitulated in the final. If he makes it to the final and gets destroyed 6-2 6-2 by Djokovic regardless of him showing excellent form throughout the week, that won't be convincing in the slightest.

rock solid performance from rafa.. this is a preview of what we're likely to see in paris as rafa's now put madrid out of his mind.. it's almost as though that madrid final never happened.. if rafa brings this form to philippe chatrier, no one is coming between rafa and a 10th coupe des mousquetaires, no one! :worship:

Look a little harder. Nothing has changed. Isner simply played worse than Monte Carlo, and the surface doesn't favour his game as much. He's still bad, and those puny groundstrokes won't cut it against Ferrer, let alone Djokovic, or even Andy.

Nothing changed. He hasn't recovered from anything. He had good tactics against Isner, and Isner wasn't so good this time, but Isner was pretty close to winning the 2nd set, and who knows what happens in the 3rd?

He only proved that he can beat somebody of Isner's "caliber" on slow clay. Big deal. When the big boys come to play, things will be completely different.

Confidence is irrelevant. Foundation is everything, and confidence alone won't beat Novak.

I actually wouldn't mind Fognini beating Berdych.

Still Nadal must beat Djokovic in the final.

Impressive stats certainly. I imagined Nadal would find his best form coming into RG this year. Next three matches here will likely prove me right.

Things won't magically correct themselves. Whether it's QF, SF, or F - there is no avoiding Novak come RG. Not this time.

Those strokes won't cut it against good movers. Good mover + strong weapon = game over for "rafa".
