Pity Robert couldn't maintain his form from the 1st set, he hit some sublime winners. Gulbis just with the bigger overall game and more weapons.

Robert played some absolutely beautiful tennis to get back into the first set from 1-4 down, solid as a rock. Gulbis was a little fortunate in how easily he got the break back in set 2 but he adapted to the conditions better than Robert, so fair enough.

Shout out to Robert's crew of ultras. Great lads.

Robert played some great tennis (and not just by his standards) for set and a half, but then faded. Gulbis was all over the place and reminded a lot of the "old Gulbis", but it's good to see him coming back from set and a break down - Robert really gifted that break-back to Gulbis in the second set. What I really don't like about Gulbis game lately is his lack of aggression. If he plays like he did today he will be eaten alive tomorrow by Ferrer.

Gulbis is a headcase. Losing his temper with the umpire and the crowd, the swearing, the idiotic arguments. He claimed that he got fined when he made a mistake so the umpire should as well. Really Gulbis? Do you get fined every time you hit a DF? Do you get fined everytime one of your ugly forehands sails over the baseline? What an idiot.

At least the crowd were having none of it and booed him throughout the match. Gulbis is the only player (except maybe for Janowicz) that is hated in every country he plays in.

Robert took his chances for a set and a half then folded easily in the end. Disappointing but he played well.

not a pretty match from, Gulbis Robert played well for a set and a half although I never felt Gulbis played well. I'm pretty sure he will be better against Ferrer and be more aggressive felt he was nervous today. Anyway at least he won. :worship:

Oh shut up already. You're like a boring record.

Jerzy was extremely loved in the UK at Wimbledon time. Give up trying to make every player you hate sound so awful when you support jokes such as Tomic.

You are delusional :spit:
They always try to make players they dislike sound bad. Cannot open the ears and listen to the reaction players get in certain places. Always pathetic hating just to continue their pathetic agenda. Jealousy, bitterness, hypocrisy... but mods do nothing....
