Fairly comfortable. Andy was hitting well and kept JC at bay whenever it looked like he might go on a hot streak. Chardy for his part threw in a bad game to get broken in the first and really from there he was playing catch up. 10 wins in a row for Andy now.

Re: Rome R2: Murray def Chardy 6-4 6-3

:cheerleader:

Chardy can be a dangerous player, but Murray looked calm, focused, and decisive. Capitalized where here could- something like 20 winners to 10 errors, great opening performance :yeah:

I have never seen someone play such a lack-lustre, couldn't care less game of tennis than Chardy this time. Maybe Murray paid him to tank?

Chardy has some lovely elements to his game, but is such the error strewn head case.

Nicely navigated by Mandy, 10 in a row! :worship: :yeah:

Excellent start to the tournament. Andy seems to be carrying over his fine form from Munich and Madrid. Another great run could be possible this week

No matter how absurd it sounds, Clay-Ray can actually make a third final in a row here if things turn out favorably for him. He needs GGL to dispatch Ferrer(possible) and Nishikori to take care of Djokovic(50/50).

Ferrer on clay would be quite an ask still, I think.

Semi-finals would be good though, that would put him 1300 points behind Federer, on course for #2 after Wimbledon.

The clay beast has awoken. Players are being thumped and sent flying left right and centre..

Funny thing is, the moment Clayray loses a match in this clay season, he'll go back to being a clay mug according to MTF. Good fun while it lasts.
