Re: Rome R2: [1] Nadal def Simon 7-6 6-7 6-2

What a joke pushfest for 3 hours and 20 min. :superlol:Even Simon became a shotmaker sometimes in this match. Good that more energy costing matches coming to dull. I'm pretty sure dull won't fluke any more title this year.
Respect Simon for his great fight. Not his fault he had much less in the tank than dull. In the final set Dull switched to his old strategy of moonballing to the backhand, which works against all players except Djokovic, granting dull more chances of forcing an error or stepping into the court for a forehand winner.
Generally dull played an lower than average match. Many unexpected UEs from the forehand but a few clean winners as well. For the most of the time he was just pushing. Serve barely had any contribution to his game either. It's the stamina that saved him again.

Great match. Nadal picked it up at the end of the third and Simon was spent.

Superb fight by Simon. He came out with the big guns, but it was not enough in the 2nd half of the third set.

Nadal's stamina is out of this world, innit?

What a match! Lots of respect to Simon even though he is hated by all these punks who think he is a pusher... to each his own.

Hats off to him for hanging in there and making this a great match.

I'm afraid only Ballsdig can stop Rafa at RG. Many even better players can outplay Rafa but only Ballsdig has the balls to do it.

Nadal really pumped up Simon needs more imagination in his game to beat Rafa in this mood but hopefully a sign GS is getting competitive again.

Where does that came from, filou?
He lost last week against Kubot on red clay! And now this level of play.
Totally bizarre.

At least Nadal tries to play his best every week in every match.

The match was good and the intensity was high, especially in the Tiebreaks which were both interesting.

Simon seems to love to play his best tennis against topplayers which is understandable and annoying at the same time.

Nadal needed probably this kind of match, IMO he played a bit better than in some matches in Madrid but I haven't saw all his matches...
