its a fair statement time is on Novak's side, we will see if he carries on his strong form. Nadal and the next gen will be stiff competition at most places, with Federer providing the occasional challenge now, but at his peak Djokovic is an unbreakable wall.

What do you think he is gonna say? PR stuff.

Yeah, in general, you have to take public statements made by any athlete with a grain of salt. On the other hand, if they're caught saying something on a hot mic, then it's probably what they're really thinking. ;)

Just PR stuff to avoid looking arrogant but he knows he’s better than Dull and Djokovic. The only one that actually was truthful was his statement about Laver cause that guy was a hell of a player and would’ve won a lot more if it wasn’t for the stoppage of him playing.

The only thing he is better at is he had 3 x 3 Slam years, which Djokodal have not been able to replicate.
On Laver, well that was the era, we will never know if there was not a split between the amateur and professional ranks so cannot add more slams in absentia.

There is no GOAT. In the end three players of the same era (even if Federer technically overlaps with the previous era) are going to retire with approximately 20 slams each. How can you argue that one is substantially better than the other two? Put simply, you can't. All three are head and shoulders better than anybody else in the open era and that's how it should remain; fans can use various subjective measures to decide who they like most/think is best but their achievements will be far too close together for it to ever be a consensus.

A sign of maturity and wisdom - Federer coming to terms with the fact he has equals on the court, who may quite possibly surpass his achievements. He seems okay with that. He's a great man. Maybe the greatest.

Very bold prediction....Federer and Nole to have an "o.k" relationship when they both finish playing. Maybe not best buddies like Federer and Nadal seem to be these days but I do sense more of a general respect between the two of them in the last year although maybe not straight after their matches particularly when Fed was giving the daggers during the Wimbledon champion speech!
