“Roger was one of the first to contact us to make sure the right thing was done,” said ATP board member Mark Knowles. BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California was the first tennis event to be canceled amid coronavirus pandemic.
Later, the organizers of the following tournaments were willing to avoid the cancellation of their events. But, as per sources, Roger Federer advised the board for the initial six-week suspension on the ATP Tour (until April 27, 2020).

If he prevented the tour from holding just Indian Wells in front of hundreds of thousands of older fans, Roger may have saved hundreds if not thousand of lives. Remember that it is the most attended ATP event.

If so, there is no doubt he already deserves the ATP Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award.

Respectfully,
masterclass

More drama and divide and conquer tactics

ATP want to partner with Fed and say he was consulted and was influential, an obvious dig at RG who reportedly only contacted Nadal

So many media mind games

Absolutely appalling move by Mirka to get the entire clay season cancelled. Understandable she and her puppet husband were livid by RG decision to move. Their whole 'legacy' preservation plan is now in danger, RG might well be the only remaining slam this year.

I actually want to commend Indian Wells.

Having attended their myself, I saw first hand two things.

1. There are crap ton of people who show up to the tournament, to families, young people, and a lot of wealthy older people.
2. As well run and funded the event is, people are just dirty and you are in tight quarters , a few inches away from anyone.

Talk about an epidemic hot spot.

So Federer froze the tour for six weeks during his hiatus. Sounds like a power play. Federer was exiled, what the tour did while he was away was really none of his business. Or did he do this for the people? Or did he do this for his own interests?
