Roddick needs to bring back Gilbert or get a new coach...

I agree that Goldfine hasn't really added anything that great... Gilbert was the best thing that ever happened to Andy, whether he likes it or not...Results speak for themselves & lately he hasn't had them. If not Gilbert, then maybe someone else...

Roddick was in a groove then there was a lapse in concentration in the first set. he gets broken, Lux starts playing well, then unbelieveably well, and before you know it, Roddick is being blown away in the 3rd set TB. If Roddick holds on in that 1st set, the result might've been a lot different. He needs someone else I think.

Roddick should take Cahill when Agassi retires

I just wanted to say that Roddick lost what he used to do the best (beat the crap out of ball) and didn't get anything in return. At times he looked kind of confused. All that slicing on a backhand is not his game. Although it might help him to get to the second round of the French Oopen next year :haha:

Also, at some point people have to stop looking for the perfect coach and realize that 90% of what's goign on, on that court is due to the player alone.

Goldfine is in over his head in turning this mess around. Roddick came out on fire, Lux was stinking it up and he let him off of the hook. He gave him a little bit of hope and Muller played a truly outstanding match. I wish Muller would play like this all the time.

Roddick did serve extremely well and made not too many errors but he did keep on hitting it to the Muller Fh which controlled all the points. Muller hit some great BH's too but wasn't controlling the points with it.

or get peter lungren. since he's more focused than safin anyway...

I agree he should go solo for a while and figure out what direction he wish to go in.

One of the bad attitude he has for a top player is that when things are not going well, he is always looking over at his coach as if to say he don't have a brain.

He needs to take responsibility for his actions on court and control of his game.

He wasn't patient enough to wait until Brad had fully developed his game. He wanted results right now, instead of trying to just get better and staying the course. The thing is Andy is dumb as a rock on and off the court. He doesn't understand the game of tennis like the players ranked around him. He has relied on his first serve his whole career and now people have figured him out. Expect Goldfine gone within the week.

^He wasn't patient enough with Gilbert, that is true. He probably didn't like Gilbert in his face either and probably thought that Gilbert was too opinionated. Goldfine seems like a nice enogh guy and I think Roddick is comfortable with that. He's not someone who will get in his face and challenge him.

K-Dog, you're the first person I've seen who expressed my thoughts. I disagree only in that I place no responsibility on Goldfine. AR is stupid & has no feel for the game. There's nothing in the world a coach can do about that. I would go further & say if he blames this on Goldfine & fires him, a coach would have to be crazy to take that job.

AR is an accidental tennis player. It's his brother that has a passion for the game, but sadly AR got the genes for arm speed. But at this level, that's merely necessary not sufficient. W/the nanotechnology everyone has huge amounts of power, nullifying AR's previous advantage. The other players on tour grew up thinking about how to win points, they really love the game. AR fell into it. He's not bright & has deep instincts for it. That's why he plays like a robot and Always Will. If he can't bash someone off the court, he doesn't know what to do...

Keep Goldfine. He's helped him a lot.

Goldfine is a great coach but totally unsuitable for Andy.

Brad Gilbert was PERFECT for Andy. I know he was disappointed with the way Hewitt beat him in the TMC last year but trully I felt almost every match Andy played under Gilbert, he could have won.

Gilbert is not a coach, he's a scout/cheerleader.
