...on his goals to be achieved as a tennis player. US Open, #1 ranking, Davis Cup victory. He's never been my favourite player, but he's achieved much with what he has and can't be faulted when it comes to motivation and determination.

Is there any chance he can win Wimbledon in the future? First time I've ever felt like rooting for a player I didn't like, just so his childhood dreams can come true.

I think he has a good chance to win Wimbledon, but who knows.

It'd be pretty funny to see a Roddick/Nadal final at wimbledon someday : both wanting the trophy so badly and thanking their lucky star Roger's not on the other side of the net  Don't know who I'd cheer for

As for the question asked in the opening post, I don't really believe the duck has a wimbledon title in him, too many players can beat him: Roger of course, but also Rafa who would IMO dominate all the rallies once the ball's back in play, Djokovic, Murray, maybe also Gasquet again... But hey 3/4 on your childhood dreams is a pretty great accomplishment, I whish I could say the same thing

why not?

ivanisevic was denied many times in the sampras era, and goran finally found a way to win.

roddick still has a few years of good tennis. Maybe roger will get beat by somebody else. I hope andy could win one day.

Agreed.

His best chances were in the past.

2001 was after Sampras, but before Federer.

Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray and Nalbandian not to mention Gasquet provide a very strong field which is strengthening.

Right now, Andy's chances at Wimbledon aren't looking too great but who knows? One year he could play some great tennis with some luck and sneak out a Wimbledon title. If Goran could do it I think Andy could.

3 of 4 is a rarity, and an outlier in terms of odds! And those are not ordinary goals. Those are lofty goals that he has achieved, just one of which many players would be happy to get. And he got 3. A slam. World No.1. Davis Cup.
Comparatively speaking, this is perhaps the one thing Roddick has over Federer. Andy just has to win Wimbledon now to feel 'accomplished.'

Roger has to win 3 more Slams, a Roland Garros title, end Year End #1 for 2 more years, win the Olympics, achieve the highest total number of weeks at #1...lol.

Well.... those are not the goals that Federer set for himself at the outset of his tennis career (beating Sampras's record, getting the higher no. of weeks at #1, winning a career slam). I think the Olympics gold/medal is the one left from what he used to wish for.

Now of course being in the position he is, his goals must have been revised. But in that way, so must have Roddick's.

True. Winning Wimbledon was definitely one of his earlier goals as well. He must be delighted he's done it 5 times, consecutively.

You've missed his biggest achievements - winning 2 Kooyong titles.
