Well played Andy, really great to see him playing so aggressively, especially on the forehand. Fully deserved victory, he was the far better player and I hope it'll do some good for his confidence
As for Rafa, it speaks volumes for how he's playing that Roddick was better than him in every single department - serve, forehand, backhand and return. Good luck defending your Indian Wells title :yeah:
He didn't get a bagel or a breadstick? Then it's all good!
But seriously, I'm ok with this loss for the most part. Rafa didn't play anywhere near his best, that's for sure, but it's not like he was able to play his way into the match that much. I can't stand Andy Roddick or his game, but at least he's a top 10 player who was serving aces like a machine. And it was the QF's (which is as far as he got last year), not the first or second round. And Andy's a hard court player. That's what he is, and it's where he does his best. You just got the sense early on that it wasn't meant to be for ol' Rafa.
Rafa had chances in the first and second sets, but Andy served his way out of jail most of the time, like he always does. And Rafa made some mistakes. He made many more mistakes towards the end of the match, though. It happens. Better for him to lose to Andy than Nole for me.
But why did Andy have to remember how to play tennis when he plays Rafa? Ugh.
And now the Duck will go and get killed by the Djoke - who will then win the final with ease. Fantastic.
Holy shit Nadal was some kind of bad. Seems like he will never be more than a clay court specialist. Also Ducktards need to quit asking for Roddick's forehand to come back. He tried being aggressive with it today and had a shit load of errors and a few winners. There is a reason he is a pusher these days.
