This is the easiest win for a 500 title I have ever known. He didn't have to face any top 20 player, the highest ranked player he beat being 26. I can hardly consider this a legit 500 title though he deserves it. It's not his fault that the field was so week and if he had beaten Thiem along the way, his victory would deserve more credit. Nonetheless, I'd like to congratulate him on his first titile of a 500 tourney and welcme to the top 20. It seems he's decent enough to do some damage on clay. His nationality being Chili makes it very sweat. He is the first Chilian playe I have got to know since Gonzalez. My all-time favorite Chilian is none other than Rios, though. I have no idea how good this guy is, but I hope he will make most of his improved ranking in the next few tournaments, where he may struggle with the change of the surface.
By the way, I really hope this tournamnet will be downgraded to 250 just like Menphis was a few years ago as long as it can't attract more than 5 top 20 players. The level of the tournament overall was just embarrassing, though I didn't get to see any match.
