A clutch victory by Stan the Man! So great to see him again in the second week of a Slam!

See him beating Tsitsipas in 4.

RG R3: Wawrinka def. Dimitrov 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 7-6(8)

Incredible match. This summarizes exactly why Wawrinka is a multislam champion and Dimitrov can only vulture. Wawrinka's backhand DTL on the penultimate point was amazing.

A classic match, with a full flight Stan the Man.... and all some idiots in the livethread bothered with was player bashing, calling chokes, etc. Not appreciating is the worst.

All credit and respect to these two, both who have done themselves proud.

Simply sensational from Stanislas Wawrinka, who played like a real alpha male.

Contrary to that, The Stickman tried to fist pump his way through the match like Mario Ancic and predictably could not even clinch a set against the legend.

Last night was particularly enjoyable, a real Stanislas Wawrinka special.

What's with the semicolons in the title?

Can see Wawrinka reaching SF here, beating Tsitsipas and Federer/Mayer on the way.

Always nice when a champion beats a pretender. Stan was very clutch in TBs, but very unclutch on BPs. Don't know if it will be enough to beat Tsitsipas, but we'll see. Oh, and he finally wins his 500th match on tour!

Is this still more proof that Stan is done like we were told so many times so recently?

Great fun to watch actually and I hope it also indicates that Dimitrov will be relevant for the rest of the season.

Around 43% of the total points were "aggressive points" from Stan -- 57 winners, 60 UEs. And yet Stan's strategy looked Nadal-esque at times just camping really behind the baseline as he also waits for errors. I thought Dimitrov played OK but I think he was pushed too deep. Tsitsipas next who just finished also an interrupted match.

It's too nice weather in the Netherlands right now for me to watch tennis in the weekend during the day. But seems like I missed a good one.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will be a whole different level from playing against The Stickman. The Greek has a presence about him, a real swagger, an intensity that comes from within and isn't for the cameras, like The Stickman's continuous clenching of the fist.

It will certainly be a fantastic match to watch between two fantastic sportsmen and players.

No words needed. Just post that second last shot of Wawrinka in a GIF. Unfortunately, I can't right now.

I've got the feeling Wawrinka vs. Tsitsipas will be an absolute cracker that shows us what tennis is all about. Allez!

Indeed. Especially today where he almost went to 5 sets.

Only watched set 1 and 2 yesterday where Stan was actually pretty clutch in the TBs. Great to see after all those chokes earlier. :yeah:

Stan-Tsitsipas looks like a stellar match-up on paper now, like a match-up that will likely not be scheduled on PC.

So Wawrinka won it 6-1 6-2 6-1 judging by your comment. After all RG is Grigor’s worst Grand Slam and Wawinka is a champ here.

Re: RG R3: Wawrinka def. Dimitrov 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 7-6(8)

Dunno why the negativity in the OP, this match was a sight for the eyes. beautiful BHs on both sides, both players hitting the ball really well, and Grigor losing the TBs required Stan's best. Yes Dimi could close the 3rd set with his 5-1 and 6-2 leads in the TB but Stan played really good tennis to get out of it and Dimi's biggest error was not putting those first serves in play.

Thoroughly enjoyed this match and also a big FU to the organizers making Stan play for 3 days in a row, put some damn lights up FFS!
