Allez Gael! Overall an impressive performance. GGL stepped up his level in the third but Monfils still too good. Now please beat Mugray.

GGL was toast in the first 2 sets, but had 4-2 in the third.

After that epic clownfest vs. Fognini, good to see Monfils in business mode today

4th time to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros for Gael :yeah:
He made the semis here in '08.

Many people thought GGL would win this one. Impressive performance today from Monfils. He'll likely play Murray next. They played here in '06 in a bizarre one, Monfils winning in five sets.

Gael should have a good chance against Murray, he is the better clay court player.

GGL was just awful there on the whole. Had he taken set 3 it'd have been interesting to see how Monfils would hold up both physically and mentally, but from GGL serving at *4-2 up he effectively lost 5-1.

Monfils is one of the stupidest tennis players around. He was lucky Garcia-Lopez was an error machine today.
got your copy and paste line about a Monfils match always ready even when it has absolutely no relevance.

How can you say that? If by solid you mean keeping the ball in play, then yes, you are right.
how stupid of him right? To realize his opponent was making a lot of errors and therefore make him work.

Was GGL injured? Tanking? Bageled by Le monf on clay  no words... Tennis keeps losing, pusher monfils vs pusher Murray that should be a great match and Nadal vs Ferrer, goat pushing quarter this

I have to say GGL's performance here was very disappointing -- didn't have a solid gameplan to trouble Monfils, and was quite passive. It is hard to outrally Monfils, especially if he really wants that ball. Just full of errors too. Monfils was solid though and was very good at retrieving and some good shots from time to time. 3rd Set was very competitive but GGL wasn't able to capitalize the breaks (although was the most clutch during BPs -- putting himself in X-40 positions was really not good). 4-4 3rd Set was so crucial with both players having Deuces and Monfils held, while GGL folded. I think Monfils is playing well lately and is in a good chance to capitalize against Murray (especially with the serve), although Murray has been in a proactive mood lately.
