Strong stuff by the Norwegian, outrageously bad stuff by the Latvian.

Was that even a question before the match? Next.

OP feels a compelling and worrying hatred in his heart for Ernests Gulbis from Latvia.

Well, it's hard to feel anything towards Gulbis after his heartless and gutless performances in the last 8 months. He should really contemplate retirement and concentrate on his family now, because for tennis he isn't good anymore, that's for sure.

He needs to do something to tell people that he is doing something with his time. People may ask, "hey Ernests, what do you do for a living?" He may be just playing tennis as a pastime. His dad will pass down so much wealth to him that it does not make any difference if he gets to second round.

He does not have to. He does not need to.

Player with better future won. Ruud has found some good form recently and looks like he belongs at slams. Gulbis does not.

Ruud also deserves credit for not putting up with Kyrgios's crap and calling for him to be banned unlike Federer who defended him because he stroked his ego

He actually said he's been working harder in the last two years than ever before. Says that week in and week out it feels like his head is being whacked against a wall. He cares.

Ernie has a weak head, always did. In the past maybe he did not care THAT much, so he was able to manage it better. Now as an older married man he really cares, and it's too much for him.

And who are you to say this? Hah

You have no insight or clue as to how he feels.

For the record, since mid February this year, Ernests played 11 tournaments (Marseille, Indian Wells, Phoenix, Miami, Monte Carlo, Budapest, Munich, Madrid, Rome, Geneva, and Roland Garros), lost his first match in 10 tournaments and his second match in 1 tournament. His win/loss record during this period is 1-11.

Losses to Humbert, Bolt, Donskoy, Kecmanovic, Andreozzi, Djere, Klizan, Opelka, and Zverev. The only win was in Geneva and it was against Nishioka.

Time to find something else to do, Ernie.

Do you imagine Gulbis being a coach?
