Quite a big win for the Australian, against a home favourite, on clay no less. Generally good shot selection from the Aussie, very competent victory. Amazingly, Polmans lost in the final round of qualies against Broady, but clearly made full use of that LL.

Polmans the drop shot king! Good bit of variety. Groundies seemed to lack power, but good enough / still enough depth. Seemed to play near his capacity, and made less errors which was enough today against a subpar Humbert.

The French deblace goes on. Humbert's defeat was unexpected. To be added to the losses of Monfils, Chardy, Moutet, and young Mayot who has just lost too. And Simon & Gasquet might very well follow tonight... It will probably be the worst RG for the French unfortunately.

Polmans can frustrate most players and if they don't have patience they could just beat themselves. I think most people underestimate how hard it is to go deep in one tournament and to be ready to compete at 100% a few days later at another. Humbert showcased that today and Rublev might do the same.
