Nice match. Thiem started slow but got better as the match went on. Ruud could hardly contain Thiem's weapons, powered by his fitness and variety, some sweet slices and even baseline half-volleys there. Thiem made it hard on himself in the first set by making a lot of errors from commanding positions as he is wont at times, but held 4/5 times despite struggling in every game. After breaking Ruud in a long game to start off the second set, Thiem grew bolder and dispatched Ruud comfortably for the rest of the match. If he can bring the level from the second part of this match rather than the first, everyone is in trouble (at least he won't be easy to beat).

Easiest match of the tournament so far and kinda expected. Unlike sock and cilic Ruud doesn’t have any weapons to trouble thiem. He could only beat himself which he desperately tried in set 1 but Ruud imploded in two consecutive service games and it was one way traffic from then

Thiem is making his tough draw look like a cakewalk. If he keeps this up, it'll be his best chance to beat Rafa at Roland Garros ever - combine his good form with his confidence-boosting US Open trophy and the cooler wetter conditions which favour him over Nadal, and we could be in for a great semifinal.

Ruud is a very solid claycourter who has been in great form the last few weeks, making the semis in both Hamburg and Rome (where he probably should have taken a set against Novak) so this is a good win and a dominant scoreline. Next is likely another tough match against Wawrinka - what a beautiful backhand battle that could be.

Shaky and a bit uncertain start by Dominic but since the middle of the 2nd set he was in full flow and last set was really exhibition mode from Dominator. Beware anyone cause if Dominic plays like this no one is safe!
Another straight set win is really priceless bearing in mind his tough draw and difficult matches coming up. Please, keep it up, champ, cause it's gonna get tougher and tougher from here onwards.

Bring Stanimal on already!

3 down, 4 to go! Come on, Dominic!!!

Some really nice rallies in this match. Casper started off well, looked pretty good but Thiem was on fire in the 3rd not much of a chance from there. It seemed Thiem added quite a few MPH on his shots today, good signs for the match against Stan.

Domi now won his last 10 GS matches, and 16 out of the last 17. not bad at all.
he made a truly remarkable transition in this match, from clowning and mugging to a Darth Demonic that makes the opposition tremble in their boots
next up: Stan the Gran Wrawrinkislaus

Good match, strong opponent, but too easy again for the Dominator.

Slow start from Thiem but got better from 1.5 sets and onwards. The power and court coverage was incredible from him. Glad that he won in straight sets and under 2.5hrs mark. Ruud played good for his experience. As expected after 2nd set he almost resigned in 3rd. Too powerful from Dominator. Hopefully another straight sets win for Dominic in next round too :p

It seems that Dominic does not like to start in the morning, he started very slowly, with a break down in the first set, and made some awful points at times in this first set. Nevertheless, he managed to win it after more than an hour of play, and from then on, he increased his level and totally took control of the match. He finished very well in the third set. Overall, I am happy he could finish in about 2h15m against such an excellent clay opponent as Caspar Ruud. Credit to the Norwegian as he is currently of the 10 best players of the world on clay and with another draw, he could have gone further here.

A straight sets win is just what the doctor ordered. Commenced a bit hesistant, I thought, but after a set and a half he really pushed on the gas pedal and started firing on all cylinders. Liking how Thiem is manoeuvering trough this draw.
