Fock is stronk but Med is sad. Sheet's inability to dictate on clay, and no net skills to compensate somewhat, have been badly exposed, as expected really. Daniil didn't know what to do, per his own admission during changeover rants. He kept trying but wasn't good enough. Fucs could reach 4R if he recharges mentally.

Not at all surprised to see clay mug Medvedev lose this match. I even called it in emotion's thread about seeds in danger in Round 1. The better clay court player won.

So many errors from Medvedev :(

Congrats to Marton for his biggest career win, he's got a pleasant game to watch

Fox def. Bear, but at least the latter lost the second set in style by point penalty.

Pretty good from Fusco, but Medvedev really didn't have either the timing or the patience today. That was really poor.

😂 How the hell can't Medvedev win a single match here at RG?

Grats to Fuscovic. He did play well in much of the match here.

Disappointing for Medvedev, he should have won it after set 3. But somehow, when Fucsovics had lost his momentum (he was peaking like never in the first two sets), the Russian lost his serve and recharged the Hungarian's morale.

It seems Meddy is damned at RG. Oh well.

I doubt Fucsovics goes far.

Fucsovics used the slice very well today. Medvedev was struggling with that quite a bit, spraying errors. Medvedev looked a bit weaponless overall. Fucsos FH top spin was also more potent. Well done Marton!

Will you and all the English speaking world stop pronouncing Fucsovics' name incorrectly or making jokes with it?

Medvedev was as clueless as usual on clay and in Hamburg last week, he was trying to be super aggressive in last 2 sets, but made way too many UEs.
Fucsovics broke his serve 3x in 2nd set, but got broken back right away... he won the TB after Medvedev's code violation at 6-3 due to racket abuse warranted a point awarded to him as he already had a CV due to swearing/bad language, thus 7-3.
Next set Fucsovics' level really dipped, he was in surviving mode. Then in 4th set he managed to break at 1-0 and hold serve after that, he repeated the same at 4-1. Medvedev gave up mentally and tactically by that time.

It is kinda puzzling how Medvedev has this negative mentality about clay courts when he had pretty good RG prep last year and contributed to his rankings push (Monte Carlo and Barcelona) -- he really should fix some of his match attitude issues because it also gives confidence to the opponent and I think Fucsovics knows Medvedev's frustrations lately.

It seemed that he always tried to shorten and hasten points with forced forehands which either landed long/wide or in the net.

Congrats to Marton! A great and well deserved win after all the tough draws he had in the slams. Hopefully he’ll have a good run here.
