No one should ever want Raonic to advance further than R4 because his QF are a useless excercise of listless losses and under-performance.
This is exactly why Raonic beating Tsitsipas was terrible and just like with Goffin, no one should ever want them to make it deep to a slam. He'll just be useless. No-show and weak off the ground today whereas Tsitsipas would have come in locked and loaded giving a fight with a 40+% chance of winning.
He takes away spots for better, more apt and ready players.
Everyone has a chance to redeem themselves and should always strive to be and do better.
But Raonic has so consistently and continously disappointed and played below expectations on the big stage that I can't do anything else but root against him for the sake of the sport, getting stage/occasion right caliber of individuals that can produce something worthy of the stage they're in.
He just doesn't have IT.
No matter how good and cool he looks early on, when the big time moment comes against a big name, he shrinks.
How is it possible to play this much below tournament level just because of stage / opponent? His game was just fine and it's completely left him for today.
I spoke about his specific game/match failures in the live/match thread.
Funniest thing was the running around the BH.
I'd estimate Raonic was about 1/15 on points where he ran around the BH the first 2 sets (didn't see the 3rd).
He can't get it up when it matters.
No game mode in him.
