I kind of have trouble understanding, how getting a quarter of the vote qualifies as "victory".
When you have 10 people running, a quarter isn't too bad.

Not that bizarre. Bloomberg has already spent hundreds of $millions and will spend whatever it takes ($billion+ ??). That kind of money buys you top-notch staff (800 staffers already & ramping up) and saturation-level advertising. Currently third in the Real Clear Politics polling average, Bloomberg's numbers keep improving.

He has directed all his money & efforts to Super Tuesday. If he does decently well on March 3, watch out. The way the Dem primaries are structured with its partial allocation of delegates vs. the GOP's winner-take-all system, it's very hard for a candidate to seal up the nomination if another candidate keeps placing a strong second. If Bernie & Bloomberg go to a brokered convention, Bloomberg takes it because the Dem Establishment doesn't want a radical socialist atop the ticket and because the party knows that Bloomberg will all too gladly spend $billions if necessary to win the White House.
Bloomberg is a serious threat and Trump knows it. He can't be outspent, he can fight fire with fire without sullying himself, and as a moderate he can flip the farmers and factory workers who switched to Trump in 2016, particularly those suffering under the years long trade wars that were supposed to be "good and easy to win." Still very early in the game though.

As a moderate,he will also distance himself from the Bernie supporters who are rallying against the establishment Democrats

Hillary will be Bloomberg's running mate if nominated, according to insiders, so her odds lowered a bit.

God why can't Americans get rid of Clintons, I shall never..

Bloomberg is a major black box. Nobody knows..
He has very little experience in federal level public politics. We have no idea how he as a person - as opposite to ads - is going to connect with voters via TV. This could just be a monumental flop.
At the same time you have to understand that Bloomberg is not just a person, not just money. It's also a very powerful company, with tremendous expertise in media, economics, data science, just to start the list. And one way or another that expertise is ready to use. No need to build thinktanks and sift through people. It has already been done. How quickly they managed to put together Hawkfish is amazing..

One thing that I kind of feel, is that for Mike this is significantly personal, rather than political. That his personal animosity to Trump is a big part of what drives him. If voters feel that too, it won't play out well.

Hard to believe Bloomberg will be able to beat Trump when it comes to the common man....
Trump is the most informal guy ever to run for President, and the opposite persona of a politician.
And to win the swing states, you need to relate to the average joe.
Bloomberg is just another Hillary.

Totally. It feels like a neighbours' spat in NY between two megarich guys that happen to share condos in the same tower over Central Park, the two huge penthouses, and can't help but constantly fighting over who's got the biggest... everything. Mike is the rabidest, as he's got acute short man complex.

Gonna be funny. Good luck trying to convince deep America to vote for a snooty Jew from NYC.

No. Bloomberg, intellectually, is head and shoulders above Hillary.
The closest equivalent of Bloomberg that I know is Putin. Very cold, absolutely brilliant mind. No slightest sentiments whatsoever when it comes to politics. But also short man, with close to zero talent in public politics.

About a week ago I saw a reporter questioning Bloomberg about 'stop and frisk', and Bloomberg was very unconvincing and rather timid in his reply-

“By the time I left office, I cut it back by 95%, but I should’ve done it faster and sooner. I regret that and I have apologized — and I have taken responsibility for taking too long to understand the impact it had on Black and Latino communities,” Bloomberg said.

“But this issue and my comments about it do not reflect my commitment to criminal justice reform and racial equity,” he added.

See when Trump faces a controversy, he goes on the attack and never apologizes, whereas Bloomberg already looks weak and repentant and he hasn't even faced a debate yet.
I think Bloomberg has too much baggage, and you can bet the other Democrat candidates will make that baggage front and center in the debates.

The best strategy for publicity for Bloomberg is to take townhalls, skips debates for now - to avoid debates inevitably going all-against-one style - until the field clears. He probably can handle debates one-on-one against anyone in this field. But it's very difficult to withstand 3-on-1, 4-on-1 onslaught and that's an unfair game by definition.

Day 2 - banning gas
Day 3 - banning tobacco
Day 4 - banning soda
Day 5 - banning cows
