BREAKING: it is confirmed -- world nº 6 @tomasberdych gets the latest wildcard into the @PortugalOpen men's main draw. Will be seeded nº1.

Thoughts?

Huh, I'm a bit surprised to see so much dislike for Berdych taking the wildcard - it's good for the tournament after Stan's withdrawal, and it's very possible that Berdych was the only Top 10 guy (other than Milos) who was prepared to change his schedule and play the extra week.

Tomas needs some more time on the clay. He's got semifinal points in both Madrid and Rome to defend next month, if he can vulture a title that's an added bonus.

Yeah, I think it's a great choice for him, particularly after the loss in Monte Carlo. Chance to play himself into form for Madrid and Rome, and a good chance of picking up the title as well. (Though it's the ATP in 2014, ain't nothin' guaranteed.)

People complaining about this stuff :facepaslm:

It`s always nice for the lower tornauments to get some top players. The so called "vulture" is good for the game.

What is real vulture is what Lu does in Asia or look at Safwat in the ITF tour, not this.

thought ferrer or murray would take it over berdych. Doesn't really change much in terms of making the tournament interesting either.
