See what he can do when he is concentrated on playing tennis, then again he needed to win this event.

Good day for the locals with Dementieva and PMK winning the finals, though Nikolai is a Ukraninan.

Plenty of breaks of serve in the final set. Mathieu had set points in both sets and the PMK served for the match at 5-3.

This match went over 2hr 30 mins.

Davydenko Def. Mathieu 7-5 7-6; Captures First Title Of Year

Nikolay Davydenko has finally won his first title of the year ... barely..., hopefully he takes St.Petersberg as well because multiple titles within a year would look more fitting for the world #4.

So has he now officially qualified for Shanghai?

Thanks.

PHM choked again. :tape:
--- Moscow Final - Davydenko def. Mathieu 7/5 7/6 ---

1st title of the year.

Kolya didn't close it well again!!!
Fixed :p
Unbelievable. PHM blew 2 SPs in the first and 7 in the second. :retard:
Ridiculous, Paulo had 2 set points in the 1st set and about 17,022 in the 2nd.

Well done for living up to your name in my signature :silly:

The title couldn't have gone to a more undeserving bloke.
Mugs match.

Funny how Davy always let PHM back in the match and took a timeout when a break up, obviously just to boost his price on betfair.
Overthemoonesque! Well done Kolay
Total chokefest tiebreak there but eventually Davydenko secured it

Paulo can kick himself - he had 3 or 4 set points there in the tiebreak alone, a lot of them on his own serve.
:cuckoo: Paulo

 Fixer

Oh, I didn't know that. So I guess it's (overthemoonesque)²

Is there anything that isn't a mugs match?

Didn't they suspend betting on PMK matches?
expected title for davydenko

safest outright bet of the year apart from federer and his grand slams
Prince of Moscow! After Kafelnikov of course :yeah:
With Mathieu having the peaks and dips that he always does and Kolya's good returning but average serve this was always going to have breaks aplenty but good for Kolya that he got the job done and gets his first title of the year. He is good indoors where he can find his rythm perfectly and if he hits top form we saw what happened in Paris last year and yes it was a very weak draw but beating Ancic, Tursunov, Rochus, Robredo and Hrbaty for a combined total of 71 games for and 27 against is still impressive.

They didn't do match betting, but outright winner market was still open.
Does this win officially qualify Davydenko for Moscow?

Not quite, but he is 99.9% certain of making it. He could only be bumped out if X player wins Madrid, Paris and an optional...not very likely.
