see title - detailing players who have had decent career-highlight runs at the biggest stages, in both slam and masters tournaments, but have never achieved the level of consistency to attain a Top 20 world ranking at somepoint in their careers. currently sticking to Masters/Super 9 results on the ATP Tour (1990-), but may extend to earlier Grand Prix circuit Masters equivalents ("Super Series"/A tournaments, etc), including players such as Tim Wilkison, Mel Purcell, John Lloyd, Heinz Günthardt, etc. several non-Top 20 players also reached multiple slam QFs, but never a Masters QF (e.g. Christian Bergström, Thierry Champion, Alexander Popp)

unsure if this is better in the Advanced Discussions (this is hardly that advanced, but it seems like the place for general stats) subsection or GM. let me know if there's any more you can think of/that i've missed.

In Benneteau's case not winning ATP titles does cost you.

No, Tomic was top 20 back in 1994

Arazi was one of the most talented players I've ever seen. Can't believe he never made the top 20, especially when you consider some of the guys that have cracked it in the last few years or so.

Zabaleta reached No. 20 ;)
his career-high has always been listed at No. 21?

there is one missing ranking week for the 27th March 2000, are you saying you have access to this missing ATP info and that he actually reached career-high of No. 20 this one particular week?

after forgetting to add Tomic initially, a week later i've removed him due to his reaching World No. 20 this week. it just wasn't meant to be Bernie...

Is reaching QFs at the GS and Masters so impressive result? I doubt.

yes, of course it is. and as you can see from the relative shortness of the list, it's a rarity for someone to achieve this without making the top 20.

Arazi was certainly the first to come to mind.

Chardy also has that feel about him, but still has the scope to change this without much difficulty.

completely expected, Mischa Zverev becomes the latest addition to the list (obviously the career-high will increase).
