Here's an overview about the points won in Futures 2007.

The options:
1. Matwe Middelkoop: He has won the most points of all players in Futures alone.
2. Predrag Rusevski: Most titles and best winning percentage!
3. Catalin Gard: He has the biggest number of 'matches won', and missed the chance to win his 7th title in the last tournament of the year.
4. Thomas Oger: Great winning percentage and he had the strongest opponents on average!
5. Eric Prodon
6. Victor Estrella
7. Robert Smeets: Comparable to Oger. He has a strong record, although he had good opponents, but he only played 9 tournaments.
8. Miguel Angel Lopez-Jaen: He mainly has so many points, because of his insane amount of Futures played.
9. Kyu-Tae Im:
10. other:
- Cristian Villagran: He would have deserved to be in the poll, but Oger has the advantage over him imo.

The median ranking of their opponents indicates that Oger had the strongest opponents, while Gard and Rusevski got many cheap wins:

Re: Player of the Year 2007

Because of the numbers, Rusevski should win this, but that opponent average ranking (wonderful statistic :yeah:) destroys him.

Then, Oger and Smeets have good percentages and opponent average ranking, but they played less than most playes, so it puts them down.

I would like to vote for Daniel Silva, but i have to be fair: Matwe Middelkoop's stats are amazing  my vote goes to him.

Re: Player of the Year 2007

I voted Pedrag Rusevski, he alone won the all 7 titles for Makedonia, I think that 7 victorys is enough reason to be considered the best player of Future level this 2007.!!

Good luck for him and the other contenders!!:)

I voted for Gard, as he really progressed this year.

Anyone who has seen Middelkoop would not vote for him.

yes, but i mean, look at his highlights of this season:
HIGHLIGHTS 2007
Singles
Challenger QF: Bogota, Manta, Bogota
Future W: Brazil F3, Brazil F24, Brazil F25 SF: Brazil F14, Brazil F20, Brazil F4 QF: Brazil F5, Argentina F8

Clearly he was better in futures than in challengers. He made 55 points in futures this year. Ops, not too much compared to the list. I'm sorry

Re: Player of the Year 2007

1. He has not progressed this year compared to his previous game (he just had a horrible year in 2006, which meant he dropped quite a bit and was forced to play mostly Futures, whereas he played more Challengers before).

2. His attitude is so miserable that you would not want him to win anything positive.

3. He hasn't really shown any consistency in Futures. He started off well, then did poorly and didn't beat anyone of note after February. Rusevski, Loglo, Skugor, Rieschick and Koning (who is his bitch, it seems) seem to be his biggest victories, and these didn't exactly have a stellar 2007. In February, he actually had his best victories, all on clay, against Trujillo-Soler, Menendez, Gimeno-Traver, Miguel Angel Lopez-Jaen.

Re: Player of the Year 2007

If you are older than 22 and you are high in this ranking there is something wrong imo. So a guy like Middelkoop who is 24 earned lots of points mainly in africa so maybe he is the future-tournament player of the year but I rather see things happen like last year. Robin Haase who earned points in futures and then played challengers before he reached the age of 20. This is from a Dutch perspective but I guess every country has examples like this.
