Pick-A-Winner (PAW) Open 13 Provence 2017

Welcome to Pick-A-Winner (PAW), the Predictions game!

Playing is simple: over the course of the tournament choose any 13 matches in the Main Draw and post who you think will win them. The scoring points besides each fixture represent the points you score if the corresponding player wins. Whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner.
If this is the first time you’re playing or you’re not familiar with the rules of the game, here’s a link to the Official PAW rules and supplement thread.

Commitments
Starting from 2017, everyone who wants to play PAW game, needs to commit in PAW thread of single tournament to ensure play, if you want to play here, write a line 'IN'[/B].

Before posting picks, check that the matches haven't started yet. A pick that is posted after a match started is invalid and may be replaced. In case a match doesn't take place due to withdrawal or change of the draw, the pick is invalid and may be replaced. If a player retires or defaulted after the match has started (even if one point was played), the pick is valid.

Changing your picks
If you want to amend a previous pick (cancel or change), quote the original post and add a new message. Don't edit your posts and never delete them!

Don't forget, you're limited to 13 picks throughout the whole tournament.

I think we should reduce the number of participants required for a tournament to go ahead from 12 to 8 so that we can have more than one event per week. Because almost everyone would prefer to play the bigger event in the week which means that for those few that may want to vulture points at a smaller tournament, they are unable to do so because of the 12 participant rule.

@Wazza

I'm pretty sure that this was voted on again at the beginning of this season and 12 was the number agreed to.

One problem with 8 is that the ranking point system cannot handle only 8 players based on the calculations. It can handle 9, but ranking points is terrible with small number of participants. At 12 it's still not ideal but not terrible. With 9 the points distribution would be: 200, 150, 120, 100, 21, 16, 11, 6, 1.

The main problem we are having is that players are leaving it very late when committing to a tournament, which is good for them as they still get to play and we have a few more players playing, but we just don't get enough commitments for the smaller tournaments.

Bring it up again for end of year and see if you get support Jean. If the majority agree, then it will be changed. :dance:
(I personally don't like managing a tournament with 10 or less players, they could probably manage themselves quite well without a set manager.)
