...and I was surprised they had a tennis competition. Some history there, too:
......................
Arthur Ashe - Bronze, 1967
Cecil Mamit - Silver; David Nalbandian - Bronze, 1999
Marcelo Rios - Silver, 2003

...and various other names, scattered through the records: Art Larson, Patrick McEnroe (doubles,) Andrés Gómez, Luke Jensen (doubles & singles,) Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan (doubles, obv.)...

Brazil’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was booed every time his name was mentioned, and he did not give the scheduled speech to officially open the games. He was replaced by the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman.
Is anybody gonna keep track of this?

When does the tennis event start? Adrián García should be the 1st. or 2nd. seed here, but he's playing Los Ángeles this week
