I don't know if people are really into films and awards here on MTF but I will give it a go. I mad that George Clooney actually got nominated whilst great films like American Gangster got snubbed. I am happy that the overated ones: Brad Pitt and Keira Knightley got snubbed :yeah: I hope Johnny Depp wins at last.

Une fierté non? Je pense qu'elle le mérite.
I didn't see the other actresses so I can't compare. I just know she's incredible in "la mome" (la vie en rose). Great actress.

She did a great job in La Vie En Rose, it was a great movie as well.

My movie knowledge isn't too great [I have a tendency to like crappy movies ], but I have to say I really enjoyed Atonement, every aspect of it was simply great.

Actors in musicals don't win.
You're right. :) The rule does not apply to all cases though.
Rare exceptions (very rare indeed, and for supporting roles):

Catherine Zeta-Jones won the 'Best Supporting Actress' Academy Award for her role in "Chicago".
Also, back in 1961 (or in 1962?) Rita Moreno won the 'Best Supporting Actress' Academy Award for her role in "West Side Story".

"The Simpsons - Movie" not nominated. Most famous animated series in the world and one of the most successful series in general. When do these idiots think of honoring the makers?

I've given up on the Oscars and their stupid decisions. This year is nearly as worse as not giving Clark Gable the oscar in 1940.

"La mome" and "La vie en rose" are the same movie. ;) "La mome" is the French name of the movie.

And Atonement was good indeed.

I hope Atonement wins SWEET FANNY ADAMS, most over-rated film of the year if you ask me.

I understand that it was good, but I didn't like it.
