The biggest concern I see for the ATP CUP is how we will run the OOP's, I see the format is relatively simple in the real event , with 1 vs 1 & 2 vs 2, plus 1 doubles for each country tie, and half the countries will play each day in RR Format, that will give us 12 singles and 6 doubles matches daily (typically we do not tip doubles matches in TT).
If the real event is run like DC , and last hour decision before each tie, and we want all optional matches (or at least most) , it becomes a very large OOP to pick from, then editing out which matches will be played, that is the option that was used at the recent DC tie.
We want this event to be as good as possible, has great potential, and I've heard from some that do not want to play because the DC format was difficult to understand at times, even though great effort was put forth by the manager.
Some of the ways I can see it run I will list below, I have a preference after looking closely, but I'll keep my opinion out of it.
1) 36 match optional OOP, with all 1-2 vs 1-2 options , matches played edited into diffs after matchups decided, this assures half the matches at minimum, any time a 1 vs 2 is played, the 2 vs 3 will not be included though
2) 18 match OOP , all six 1 vs 1 and all six 2 vs 2 plus all 6 doubles matches , any cancelled matched removed from diffs
3) 12 match OOP , singles only , all six 1 vs 1 and all six 2 vs 2 , any cancelled matches removed from diffs
4) 6 match OOP , 4 singles and 2 doubles , picking only from your venue of BRISBANE/PERTH or SYDNEY, cancelled matches removed from diffs
5) 14 match optional OOP, 12 singles of all 1-2 vs 1-2 options , keeping 4 (or less if any cancelled) that are played plus 2 doubles matches, from your own venue of BRISBANE/PERTH or SYDNEY
6) 60 Match Optional OOP, all 1-2 vs 1-2 plus 2-3 vs 2-3 , likely this gets all 12 matches that will be played, although extremely difficult to pick from and manage
