That none of the men’s quarterfinalists of a grand slam are already a slam champ.

the first? Rogie’s first slam ever at 2003 Wimbledon.

weak era jokes aside, perhaps this is a sign from the tennis gods that whoever wins this slam is the future slam king? Please bump this thread in 2035.

apparently it also happened in the 1981 AO.
That’s not what they said on ESPN but it wouldn’t be the first time those bozos were wrong

The amount of times publications get facts wrong is scary. You do expect the liks of ESPN, who cover sport full time to be better, but that is not always the case. One of the problems is using a few writers to cover multiple sports. It saves money but it affects quality. Many publications in the UK are good at covering football, but they are terrible at things like tennis.

tennis has never been ESPN’s strong spot, that’s for sure
