Would players be better served hitting rally balls straight at Nole's body to try and cramp him? It seems to me that his game thrives of width, the more he is stretched the better his shot it seems.

Dunno, but its the only tactic I can think of. Otherwise from the baseline he seems invincible atm

Lol not like he couldn't step out left or right if he's waiting for it on the baseline.

It's not wheelchair tennis.

It's always a good tactic against players like this. Sharapova beat Kvitova by playing up the middle of the court to cut out her angles. The difference is that Novak can create angles out of nowhere to dictate rallies so I'm sure how effective it would be.

The only shot he lacks is the over head smash and that's the easiest shot there is.
they always say that but its far from true. and if the circumstances arent good (sun in the eye, pressure situation etc) you have to make it perfect to work.

think sampras had the best technical solution for it.

Kvitova is nothing like Nole though in terms of style so I don't get the comparison. Nole is very flexible and adept at getting out of his own way, Kvitova not so much.

You have to get Djokovic to rack up on unforced errors to defeat him. It's difficult to get many winners against him.

On top of that you'd have to return or serve well against him.

If you do your part on serving and returning, and assuming you have a strong base game, he's vulnerable.

Federer has shown this time and time again against him.

This is actually a very valid point. I felt during that during his match with Murray. If you can get depth down the middle he can't penetrate as much through his shot as someone like Delpo or Federer can; he penetrates much more with more space from the ball. I feel the same way about Kvitova, who is also a master of angles as is Novak and also strong on the run/when stretch out wide.

He's a clown. Any decent serve-volley or aggressive player from the past would be able to use his restriction to the baseline against him. This generic baseline coward would struggle to crack the top 10 in any decent era.

Didn;t see the Djokovic/Murray semifinal match.

Surprised Murray made it close. Did Murray try some novel/gimmick tactics like serve and volleying a lot or otherwise trying to get to the net? Or slicing/junking it all over the place?

Or was it a baseline slug-fest?

If the latter, Nole needs to buck up his ideas if he gets taken to 5 sets on his favorite surface in his favorite game style by Andrew freaking Murray of all people. Nadal will destroy him in the final if Djokovic is coming off this kind of performance.

His weakness is very low slice.

There is so much about this post that is completely wrongheaded that it's much more efficient just to point out what it has gotten right.

You say "He's" in your first sentence. You are indeed correct that Djokovic is male.

The guy is so good at the hopeful, flukey floaters that land a centimetre inside the baseline. Credit where it is due :worship:

"is good at" and "flukey" are a direct contradiction.

If he's good at it (i.e. executes it consistently), it isn't a fluke, is it?

Seems obvious. :wavey:

Those last ditch lobs that land on the line obviously have some sort of divine intervention involved. Same as the Nadull one at break point down serving it out against FG.

Well, Nole does always cross himself after every victory...

Maybe God is a Noletard.

(Actually, He's probably just a glory hunter).

Nadals flattened out 100 mile inside out forehand will put severe pressure on the Novak forehand, he'll draw a lot errors and hit winners if he hits that like he was against Berdych. 25+ flat forehand winners vs Berdych? He was ripping it with little spin.

Djokovics forehand CAN be a baseline weakness if broken down. Federer proved that last year. It's a matter of getting 3 sets of him whilst it's broken down because he always refinds his rhythm on it.
