Surprised this hasn't been posted already, anyway, while spending family time in Belgrade, Serbia, last night Djokovic was seen playing tennis with local kids in front of his apartment building.

"For the first time since I've lived in that apartment I saw kids playing tennis on the street, without the net. The whole thing happened spontaneous, I was coming back home after the training session, had my tennis bag when I saw them. We played a bit, and I told them I'll come back in a few days with the proper net. We've already drew the lines with the chalk, so we can start playing "seriously". Both as an athlete and as a human being I am filled with happiness to see kids engaging in sports more and more, and as a tennis player it was a special treat to see them with the racquet in their hands. The whole thing was spontaneous and fun, the real quality fun."

Whatever you think of him, I don't think you can ever accuse Djokovic of forgetting his roots. Great to see.

That's unironically amazing (if it wasn't a set up).
Doubt this was a set up as it is home for him. He doesnt need popularity in Serbia. Novak is a good guy apart from when he beats Rafa lol.

Seriously one thing i have noticed for years is other pro players always say what a great person he is as well as obviously player.

As a Nadal fan i obviously want him to lose as im sure Novak fans want Rafa to lose. But i have to say i was disgusted by the treatment Djokovic got in AO final. Totally unnecessary irrespective of how many times he won there.

The irony is seeing McEnroe cheered onto court to do interviews. This the guy actually booted out of the event as a player such was his disgraceful behaviour.

This was a nice moment by one of the greatest sportsperson to have ever lived.

Next thread? Djokovic goes to the restroom and takes a dump every day; what a champion?

Maybe you’ll call me a hater but I think it was arranged for publicity purposes to cover up Srdjan’s performance. If it were for real they should have kept it private.

If this was arranged it wouldn't have happened at night, under the street lights with random kids recording short and low quality videos on their cell phones. That's not how an elite athlete would want to run his PR campaign.

Also some of the previously uploaded videos by random kids have been taken down.

This is how it went down:
Jelena: It's your turn to do the chores... dishes, trash, vacuum, dusting and groceries...
Novak: ... Uhm... uhm... oooh, I forgot... I promised to kids to play a bit with them downstairs... can't let them down... uhm... sorry... I'll do it next time (already at the door - one has to be at the door at that moment - grabbing the doorknob, and quick to close it behind so "i didn't hear you" can work later).

It's called "Belgrade mensch manouver" - I've done it many times, even successfully.

Seriously now, it's super cool that he did this.
