Lots of points to be potentially gained during the USO season!

He defends 900 and there are 4000 up for grabs...

He should feel relaxed, confident and ready to go.

He could win Cincy :inlove: He could go over 15000 ranking points :inlove: He could clinch the year-end #1 :inlove:

And I, for once, will not be on holiday. I'll be able to watch!! :cheerleader:

It will never be as bad as it was back in 08...or maybe that's just me not surprised anymore at GM :sigh:

This bloody rain:fiery:
Yeah I've read this forum occasionally from 2006, whenewer some player set himself as a serious threat to grand master, similar things can be seen:eek:.

Missing Lee so much:sad:

I read somewhere that its not in the heads of ATP's interest that Novak overshadows Fedal and Murray. Firstly as Nike and Adidas, the Sports world giants do not sponser and would not like his dominance at the cost of their Clients.Secondly, Novak at the top do not gell with the idea of Western European/American sphere of dominance in the World market.

I was never fan of conspiracy theories but now i am not so sure. Fedal and Murray keep getting hyped while Novak's rise is carefully downplayed. There is surely something to it.

I am so bored reading article after article about how unliked, unpopular, unloved, even uninspiring Novak is!

They don't even try to be original, they just repeat each other ad nauseum.

Novak has put together a fantastic season. Only two players before had managed to seal the year-end #1 in September: Roger in 2006 and McEnroe in 1984, I think It is an amazing achievemnet. 16000 ranking points. His fabulous performance in NY against Roger and 23000 supporters.

It's as if we saw stuff like that all the time.

Very disappointing.

But there's nothing they can do: Novak will now play for history. And at some point they will have toaccept it and deal with it.

I was reading some pressers from 2007, when Nole beat Roger in Canada and lost to him in the USO. It was different: journos liked him, people liked him. He wasn't a threat then

In any case, I am too happy and too proud to care too much about this. It truly is their loss. :)

I still cant get over that French Open Loss. Why did he have to play so defensively? Why Why Why?. He gave all the momentum to Wawarinka and that Punk played the match of his life.

Afterall Nole was marauding over everybody this summer, he was destroying everybody why did he had to play so defensively and that too suddenly in the finals...

Should forget the past... Stan rarely strikes twice, I think Nole can do it next year.

Hopefully the competition doesn't rise a lot, I think he will have plenty of chances besides this one. Certainly an injustice if he never wins RG, he's won all the clay events and other slams...

There's no point dwelling on it, although I think the fact that Novak played 3 consecutive days while Stan had 48 hours rest had a bigger impact than people acknowledge. Yes, Stan played the match of his life and might have won anyway, but I prefer players getting the same conditions as realistically as possible Twice has Novak had to play three days in a row while his opponent rests for 48 hours: USO 2012 F and RG 2015 F. I hope never again.

Having said that, I don't think Novak would have won Wimby and the USO if he had also won RG. He said so himself after RG: that he was going to win Wimbledon to get over the disappointment.. If he had achieved the career slam, maybe he would have lost some intensity in Wimbledon....And if he had won Wimbledon, the pressure of the CYGS, together with Federer and crowd, would probably have been too much for him to handle. Serena couldn't. The pressure is too much.

So all in all it was not all bad. Stan, by beating Novak, prevented Roger from getting #18... That's ok in my book.

Nole can win it next year... Although if he wins Australia, RG would mean the non-calendar consecutive slam. Nobody's done that since Laver... Pressure! :scared:

Well just imagine how pissed off are all those tennis specialists...

For the third time in a row, they have their fairy tale ready about #18 and Roger better than time and never aging at 33 then 34.

And for the third time they have to swallow the whole paper...

You know ink at an awfully bitter taste.

Now that Novak has won the 3rd slam of the year, I kinda wish Novak would enter Basel instead of China. Just to troll with fedtards

Jokes aside, I wonder why some of the biggest novak fans in GM do not post that often here in his subforum. I know that this is the one of the least interesting season of the year (beside the clay season post wimbledon), but still it's pretty much the same crowd who keep this subforum active (nothing wrong with that though, just curious).

I'm not that motivated for China Open, although I'm looking forward for Shanghai. Crossing my finger that Novak will turnaround his H2H against Fed this year, and against Nadal next year.

I agree with mostly everything except the bold. A big part of why Stan Played like that was Novak almost allowed him to play like that. I have seen that video, which i despise so much, around 20 times or more and everytime i see it i just know that Nole just allowed him to the match. Maybe the tiredness or the sheer Pressure or Nervousness, whatever the reason maybe, but Nole allowed him in the match. Its so clear.

And speaking of H2H, its time Nole puts an end on the dominance of Fedal in H2H. Shut the door permanently on them. He is the best player since years now and its time he dominate the H2H. Dont give any Hope to them.

This was a nice thread. Wonder whatever happened to many of the posters here?
