This may be old news to some folks here, but it is new to me. I was watching a college tennis match between Jubb of University of South Carolina and Borges of Mississippi State. Borges was serving down 2-3 in the second set, and clearly hit a let serve, but it was unreturnable and called an ace. I studied this further and discovered the no let rule was instituted to cut down on phantom let calls on unreturnable serves, since players call their own points and lines.

What do you think? Do you think the no let serve rule would improve the pro game? By the way, Jubb and Borges were playing at an extremely high level. It was an impressive display of tennis.

Those players you saw would no doubt beat the women in the top 10 of the WTA

Yes, no-let should be introduced ASAP, but not necessarilly all the kinds of no-lets, as some are advocating, e.g. there should always be the let call if after touching the net a ball bounces inside the court twice, i.e. without reaching the baseline after the first bounce, as can be easily seen or checked.

No more need for the net fault device this way, game will be faster and more exciting.

This rule wouldn't be applied to the underarm serves though, i.e. those balls could bounce twice inside the court without reaching the baseline.

Following up to the comment of Darth Vaderer from above: No doubt Jubb and Borges would crush any female tennis players they played, pro or otherwise. Because of the substantial difference in upper-body strength between men and women, such a match would be decidedly one-sided in favor of the men. This is why men and women tennis players don't play each other. There would be no point to it. Edit: Actually, "crush" used originally is probably too strong. Some of the higher-ranked pro women could make a game of it against these two or any high-ranked male collegiate tennis players from established programs. I believe Jubb and Borges could probably play competitively against male pros ranked 750 and below. I don't know whether either or both aspire to go pro. If they do, we'll see how they fare.

It may seem obvious to you and me, but many people in the media and otherwise would think serena would beat them 0 and 0

Yes it's obvious, any male player ranked around 700-800 would beat the best woman player without any trouble.
On topic, not a fan of no let serve, if the purpose is to make matches shorter then it's useless, let serves are not the reason why matches can go for very long time.

They will tell you it's to speed up the game then in the meantime will allow a 10 minutes bathroom break between sets..

Some people are really taking us, tennis fans, for idiots.

I guess you saw this as an opportunity to express your misogyny even though it has nothing to do with the topic

Just let it go guys, transgenders or whatever they're called now are already proving this (useless) point.

There is a disparity in upper body but that's not the biggest physical one.
By far the bigger difference is lower body core and especially leg strength.
This results in a much more powerful and athletic ability to attack and defend.
Attributing to mainly upper body differences results in the false conclusion that Serena Williams could be possibly competitive even against lesser male college players.
Tennis is not a static sport.

No way. In fact they should bring back the let cord judges, it was hilarious to watch those guys risk life and limb while ferocious serves zipped past their ears.

I’ll admit I went off topic, but your accusation of misogyny is stupid. Sorry you can’t handle the truth

Not stupid at all. Of course the WTA players would probably lose to these guys. <img src="https://i.imgur.com/IOaQa5o.gif" border="0" alt="" title="rolleyes" class="inlineimg" /> Why even bring it up? What a dimwit. <img src="https://www.tennisforum.com/images/smilies/wavey.gif" border="0" alt="" title="wavey" class="inlineimg" />
Even if it had no point, how was it misogynistic? And you say I’m the dimwit ?

How on earth did a thread about no-let serves attract all of the local degenerates to post a bunch of unrelated nonsense?! <img src="https://www.tennisforum.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="" title="lol" class="inlineimg" />
Like most liberals, you’re good at calling names and not so good at backing up those accusations ?. I notice you didn’t respond to my question asking how my comment was misogynistic. Some things never change!
