Kohlschreiber has never lost a match after wasting match point and this time he was "lucky" once again because the match against Nieminen was "the best of five". If the match was "the best of three", Kohli would be the new record holder in wasting match points along with Kim Warwick. The German wasted in all 11 set points in the 2nd and 3rd set! Here is his amazing chokefest:

2nd set (7 setpoints):
5:4 (40-0) on serve, later adv.
6:5 (40-15) on serve
7:6 in the tie-break on serve

3rd set (4 setpoints):
5:4 (40-15)
In the tie-break: 6:5 on serve (Nieminen barely hit the line) & 9:8

AO R16 Nieminen def. Kohlschrieber 3-6. 7-6(9-7), 7-6(10-8), 6-3

Damn you Philipp! Blowing so many set points in the second and third. Jarkko baby served his way to victory.

All the on court muttering by Kohlschreiber after the wasted set pts was annoying. His head was not focused on executing. That was a great chokefest.

Actually Kohli was the better player for first 3 sets, but nothing to show for it! Couldn't close out both 2nd and 3rd sets, despite having so many opportunities. Overall this wasn't a quality match, lots of UE, strange shotmaking decisions etc. Both guys were very tight out there.

Jarkko seriously has to do smth with his serve. He was serving 120 - 125 km/h 2nd serves for whole match. At the end it slowed down to 113 - 118 km/h :help:

I feel very sorry for Kohli. Really, he must be completely destroyed after this loss

This may have been the biggest pushing, moonball match of WTA proportions at a slam in over ten years.:help::help:

mental monster :yeah:

3rd Grand Slam QF, first in Melbourne, past QF's:

US Open -05 (lost to Hewitt in 5)
Wimbledon -06 (lost to Nadal in 3)

only Slam QF missing is the French Open, best result there is 4th round
