Really wanted to see him enter Monte Carlo and how he would fare there, but this seems like a sensible schedule for a Top 20 player! :D Just love repeating that.

If Nick can get past Cervantes/Munoz, Coric will be an interesting clash.

He will play Cervantes

Happy birthday Nick :)

Back to the semi-finals. Straight sets over Cervantes and Coric. Next Almagro who at his best is a very difficult opponent but hasn't really been the same since an injury 2 and a half years ago. Of course Almagro has shown a level close to his best crushing Tsonga and Ferrer in Buenos Aires two months ago. I'd love to see Almagro back in the top 30, of course hopefully the upwards trend doesn't start yet so Bick can take the title (in doing so keep his top 20 spot).

Madrid draw will come out in the next while. Hope he draws a 9-12 in R2 to make some damage

Nick fails against Almagro unfortunately, (Not sure which would have been the more arrogant on court), going down in straight sets to the eventual winner 37 57.

Nick has shown an important quality this week that is winning when returning awfully. Defended all points now.

Still, hopefully he can return better because it's a big help.

Amazing match, well played Nick. Almost all the stats were against him, except the most important - 1st serve percentage and the break points.
And of course the unforced errors, but that was balanced by the winner stat.

Nick won again this time he beat Cuevas 7-6(5) 4-6 6-3. Cuevas played well yesterday against Monfils and today played pretty good. Nick was broken at the start final set but found right decision, started playing more agressively and this paid off
