It is great. Any word on his game ? Is he those rare specialists ? Never seen him play or named before
He upset Thiem in Antalaya last year. Thiem wasn't giving his best effort but still, the guy has a good precise serve and slice. Looks a bit feeble compared to most of the tour(though not compared to Smyczek I guess).

In 2017 Ramanathan got into news when he scored a huge upset over the top seed Dominic Thiem (world #8 at that time) in the second round of Antalya Open by beating him 6-3 6-2. He progressed till the quarterfinals where he lost to Marcos Baghdatis in a third set tie break.

This was a really low quality match. Smyczek played awful and Ramanthan serve and volleyed ok enough to win. Ramanathan does not have the ground strokes to be a top 50 player.

Watched the second set, level of play was GARBAGE. I wonder if this guy is the worst player/least talented to ever make an ATP final? I swear he hasnt even won a title at challenger level.

Fair play to him making the most of a nice draw though. Be quality if he miraculously beats Johnson in the final. Very slim chance though IMO..

If I'm not mistaken, the last time an Indian won a tour level title was at Newport, 20 years ago.

This would probably be the first time an Indian reached a tour level final since 2011.

Hopefully he does better in the final than Prakash Amritraj who lost in the final 10 years ago.
