Thank God Rampras skipped Wimbledon, Djokovic would've stayed at 8

Newport is really terrible to watch, no rallies, 2-3 shots that's all, it's not tennis... Thankfully there are no more such tournaments in calendar.
Congrats to Ram though, Karlovic was poor in the crucial moments.

it isn't like it's new cognition but Karlovic's mentality is so pathetic and disgusting. that first tie breaker, b2b second serve returns lands in the stands and misses passing shot from service line.

those jokes and digs on tweeter don't hold the water in moments like this, when it's author can not be more pathetic. sorry Doc but truth must have been said

Karlovic losing to a guy with weaker ground game than he himself has, never thought this would happen, but that's beauty of life. every day you learn that rock bottom doesn't exist

3rd Set was crazy serving from both while an interesting minibreak to get the lead in the TB. Maybe Ivo panicked a little to give the 2nd minibreak as Ram consolidated well after that minibreak, and that's that. 2nd title on Newport for Ram since 2009, and probably one of the most surprising titlists ever this year (Luca Vanni winning Sao Paolo could've been more shocking knowing his record in the Tour before that). Meanwhile it seems Karlovic's Finals woes are still there because ever since 2014 he only has won 1 out of 6 finals I think. This loss might hurt too against a player who actually haven't played a Tour level match this year! For Ram though has to be some incredible run. Makes you feel sad for one particular player who still isn't able to win a title.

P.S. It's incredible how sub-par Ivo's TB stats this year for a servebot and it is quite remarkable he isn't able to get the required returns during those times but is able to find some games able to break serve.

Guy is just one of 3 players (and the only non-Swiss) to have beaten Djokovic this year. You could say this loss just "balances it out" if you think he's "hit rock bottom".

It would've been great to see Ivo win his 2nd title of the year at the age of 36 and he should've won this, but Rajeev really played a very good final tiebreak.
Rampras is a good guy so it's all good anyway. :yeah:
