I admit I've never been able to understand all the fascination ppl can have when there's a new year coming up. Like it's the end of something and that it's gonna be all different because we change year

Never been so keen on celebrating anything special then, when everyone around only speaks about the NY celebrations. They all think about celebrating, drinking, eating, partying. Well, good for them. But not everyone celebrates the new year, and not everyone can. There will always be ppl who won't celebrate it, by choice, or because they can't. So, is it so hard to ask to hear a little less fuss about all this bloody NY thing?

Yes, I got the blues. Like every year, at the same point. Not that all the celebration spirit gains me. No. But because I always -even if I don't intend to- think of all that has happened in the year that is about to end. What has changed? Blah blah blah.....and it's always the same answer. Nothing. So, of course, how can I believe anything's gonna change for that new year coming up? When NOTHING has never changed in the past 10 years or so.......

Yeah, I got the New Year Blues....... :rocker2:

Choupi  It is ok to not care about the New Year. We all have our different ways of dealing with each day that comes our way. My family and I choose not to party, hardly drink and I am always in bed before midnight;) That said I take the New Year as just that- time for reflections on what happened the past year and can I use what I shuld have learned? Can I be a better person towards others; should I have told others off and not let them get to me :p or should I just take comfort knowing that I like who I am. And if the same situation happens next year will I face it the same way or will I take what I have learned and put it to better use. Better yet; will I ever let my teenager not get the better of me and how can I get him to listen more? I figured that one out already- I need to listen to him better;) Be well my friend and take comfort that you have a special place in my heart and you are always welcome in my home

Happy New Year, Choupi. I found myself thinking the same way you did. A new year will do nothing for someone who refuses to take an honest look at themselves. Like Sue said, a new year should be cause to reflect and remember what paths you took to get where you are today. You fix what's wrong and continue doing what is right.
This past year for me has been a growing experience...learning how to be a teacher. I realized it takes more than education and know-how; it takes compassion and understanding, love and care to be a teacher...qualities that I hope I'm showing my students each day.
