TIME ZONE

-First key is picking the time zone you will manage in to suit your schedule. For me it's the opposite of where I live, so anywhere I'm posting diffs in the evening is best. Many are free at 11 am in their own time zone, so that works fine. A key is being able to understand CET/CEST as compared to where you live, if you live close that's easy , for me CET is 5 hours ahead , and I'm now programmed to relate all tournament times to CET/CEST.

Europe- mostly only managers from Europe fit this well, as North/South American is very early am at tournament start time
North/south America- good for both local and European managers, 11 am start local, is 4 PM to 8 PM CET
Asia- Currently no local managers, Good for mostly North/South American managers, 6-9 PM west coast & 9-12 PM East Coast , Europe 3-6 AM CET
Australia-some locals have managed in past, good time zone for North/South American Managers with 5-9 PM deadline
CHOOSING A TOURNAMENT

-Go to managers thread <--click and you will see the list of tournaments for each month , look thru what has been picked and what is left in your preferred time zone. You may have to wait for the next month to start for something to be available. You should subscribe to the thread (became follow in top right corner, end of 2019) , so that you see when the next month is posted , also you can PM (Became conversation end of 2019) BMT360 a request for the next month if there is an event you really want to manage..
OPENING YOUR TOURNAMENT THREAD

You will start managing with a challenger , top left corner of page post new thread <---click

-Open another challenger and split screen with your new thread, so you can copy and paste information over, just adjust for your tournament.

-Post 1 just needs photo changed and title, google your event, add photo in place of old photo.

-I like putting 1st Deadline in Title, so when I'm looking in my Subscriptions I'm reminded the timing of the Event

-To edit your tournament headline it's done in post 1 , edit then go advanced will put you where you can edit daily , such as oop in post 6 & 71 for example

-Post 2 is fact sheet , copy and paste from another event then adjust your info , challenger tour here

-Good idea to look up last years event, a few pages back in the challenger section, will be mostly the same with slight date adjustments.

-Posts 3-8 just copy headers of each page , other events and schedule of play can be added, the rest will be added during the event

-Post 6 is typically where the OOP goes, you can personalize or use someone else you like. It's a good spot to make each OOP first , as players do not see it right away until transferred to the last page, giving you time to proofread before everyone see's it

-Post 4 & 5 for singles & doubles results is very important, this is where the rankings are done from, so please keep this updated, post your results there first then transfer to end of thread

-Please do not open a thread post 1, post 2, etc , as it tends to stay that way far to long!
ENTRY LIST

download here

-First thing is to copy ranking into singles (Column N) and for doubles (Column O)

-Copy and paste rankings from list to SINGLES and DOUBLES , I find it best to first paste in the quick reply thread (or paste into notes) , and copy again, so I have a preview of where it will paste, if I paste direct it often ends up 1 line up or down, effecting the ranking results

- Link to Singles & Doubles rankings

-Proper ranking will be from 2 weeks before start of tournament

-Once you have both rankings completed, then you go to Column D , you copy players over from your MTF THREAD to the list , Column H & I are for doubles players , split screen with both THREAD and SPREADSHEET open side by side is easiest.

- As you paste names over, look for NR , if any names are spelled wrong or have a space at the end from copying over , it will read as NR, so try edit, and look for mistake such as space at end of name. Some NR's will be correct if a new player.

- When you get your first player pasted over in both singles and doubles, cross check ranking list to see if it matches ranking.

-Preview your entry list to paste on the second page, if all looks good, return to page 1 and press Entry List (to paste) , then it will be ready to paste into MTF THREAD , Proof read in Thread before posting, some editing usually needs to be done, with Q and ALT lists before they become used

-Post 1st entry list soon after Taz Warrior releases rankings Monday or Tuesday

-Post 2nd entry list update Friday evening or Saturday, so players know where they stand, and another after the first deadline passes, so that you know all are late entries beyond that point

-Column E on 1st page is for late entries, by entering LE , doubles has no late entries only singles

-Column Q/R for singles & S/T for doubles , are to add PR to any player requesting to use

-Column W is to add nationality to any Player that pops up as NR , they will be automatically transferred to Column V , you then must look up the players Nationality manually for a new player to add this option, click on the players name and then view public profile, if they have not edited, then send a PM asking where they would like to represent, know one likes representing XXX

-After Final Deadline and all players are on your Entry list , the Draw is automated by selection GENERATE DRAWS on First page , then go to DRAW page and copy to paste in Management sheet

-The draws is then to be transferred to another spread sheet --> management spreadsheet here , POST 82
MANAGEMENT SHEET

-3 pages , Singles/Doubles/Stats , found at bottom

- Paste automated draw from entry list sheet to Column A in management sheet for Singles & Doubles pages

-Best to have 2 sheets, 1 for Q , 1 for MD , the entry list has the Draws on a separate page, Daty_Entry / Entry_List / Draws

-Once you have pasted over, you will see singles draw starting in row E line 27 , copy and post in thread, again proofread and post on first page before posting at end of thread

-Similar with doubles page

-Settings are pivotal that the sheet works as you wish, rows E/F/G/H for OOP must be filled out correctly, and matched with settings in Column H line 20/21/22

-OOP starting in E3 and F3, Player A and Player B , is copied directly from your OOP in tournament thread, and pasted in same order with only last name

-OOP starting in G3 and H3 must also be filled in correctly, PTS or SR for G3 and Day 1 or 2 for H3 , often rookie managers make mistakes in this spot that makes the spreadsheet not work for them, if you don't add PTS or SR the diffs will be presented as winners without SR diffs, and if you forget Day 1 or 2, it will just say N/A all over sheet.

-Settings in column H20-22 are also pivotal in the sheet working correctly, H20 asks how many days in the round, H21 which day now and H22 how many matches in round

-In singles H20-22 is mostly 1 Day , Day 1 now and 8 for example matches , QF is when it typically switches to 2/1/8 on day 1, and 2/2/8 on Day 2, this setting is pivotal along with having the matches in OOP labeled correctly, first day, 4 matches labeled day 1, 2nd day 4 matches labeled day 2 in Column H lines 3-10 in singles

-Doubles Rd1 and QF are 2 days typically, so you will need to take special notice to OOP day listed matches days in round/ day now and matches , and gets switched over on Day 2

- In Column D , under PTS No. , for 2 DAY ROUNDS , move PTS 1 (also PTS 2 &3 in 2 DAY RD1 MATCHES) to DAY 2 matches , erase from top of OOP where they are preset ** Most often used in Doubles RD1 & Singles/Doubles QF/FINAL**
RULES THREAD

-Most importantly every manager needs to subscribe to this thread, every time you have an entry list issue, or a scoring issue, it's all there to read, best to try understand yourself, before looking for help, of course having someone double check if you are not sure you are understanding and applying a rule correctly is wise, but please look first before asking !
CREATING OOP

- Use standard OOP you like and add your info to it

-QR1 & RD1 always all PTS

-FQR and RD2 on, PTS1 then all SR

-First create in post 6 then proofread , post at end of thread after

-Best OOP site protennislive & livescorehunter

-Best results site tennis explorer

-PTS1 match should be closest ODDS match listed for the day on tennis explorer

-PM OOP to all players in QR1 and RD1 only , to get started, will make for higher send level , better quality tournament with less headaches moving players and changing draw
DIFFERENCES

- Created by entering picks from PM to row 95 under corresponding players name

-Go to your inbox and check all unread PM's , then bottom right corner toggle to "Download as text"

-Once you paste in all picks carefully, difference will appear in Row A line 49

-Any spelling errors or space before name will create incorrect spelling message and no diff for a match, when you paste in , appears in red text that incorrect spelling, best to stop then and correct

-Often you can see the space in front of the pick, this is the most common error , along with - between last names missing, although some actual spelling also, but less often then spaces

-Differences are to be posted as close as possible to the start of play (should be exact most rounds or early if all picks are in later rounds) , they can be edited with a header and waiting to send at the top of the hour and start of play (live score hunter has great headers for each event)

-If you are missing picks as normal in the last 15 minutes, diffs can be still ready in thread to send , just add any last minute pick to sheet and edit into thread
RESULTS

-Column L (blue cell) you choose 1 or 2 to match player in OOP that wins, cross check proper name is automated in Column M (grey cell) , then add score in Column N (blue cell) 64 63 or 20/21 depending on PTS or SR match

-Once you have all winners inputted results are in Column B row 73 , if the winner is not listed in Column A row 73 typically your match or day settings are not correct

- If all is correct it's ready to post , once again on page 1 in thread first, proofread, then post to end of thread

-Switching rounds is where it is easy to go wrong with this sheet , players to next round will be in green box K73 to M73, copy this and paste either into a New Sheet or over existing top half of sheet

-After pasting and erasing bottom half of players eliminated, erasing the rest of the sheet needs to be done carefully, you can erase all yellow and blue cells, but grey cells contain the code, do not erase these as they are not protected in this sheet. When you erase the blue cells the grey will automatically disappear

-Letters and Numbers listed are for singles sheet and do not correspond to doubles, but works the same
Schedule of Play for challengers

TT SCHEDULE

SINGLES:

Monday ~ TT R48
Tuesday ~ TT R32
Wednesday ~ TT R16
Thursday ~ TT QF
Friday ~ TT SF
Saturday & Sunday ~ TT Final

DOUBLES:

Monday ~ TT RD24
Tuesday & Wednesday ~ TT RD16
Thursday ~ TT QF
Friday ~ TT SF
Saturday & Sunday ~ TT Final

-Monday should be reserved for Rd48 singles/Rd24 doubles , if not over 32 singles/16 doubles teams , event starts Tuesday
-QF should be 1 day Thursday , based on 8 matches in Real event Rd16
-Some events may start on Sunday (such as did in Australia) , which will cause many no sends, best to adjust TT for Monday start (if 32 players Monday takes place of normal Tuesday start , if 48 split round Monday)
-In addition the rules state you can not start a TT CHALLENGER on Sunday , there are only exceptions for RG/IW/MIAMI/ event preceding US OPEN , otherwise all events MD start Monday or Tuesday pending when it starts in Real Event.
ALT PLACEMENT BASICS

ALT = Player committing after FINAL DEADLINE and before start of PLAY (CHALLENGER main draw or ATP Q) , or players at end of entry list in full event.

After Final deadline for receiving picks , missing picks are replaced by ALTS in CHALLENGER and QR1 ATP

2 MISSING PICKS SAME MATCH

- If there is a match with 2 missing picks, it takes placement priority , ALT1 and ALT2 will be placed in this spot
- If there is only 1 ALT available and you have a match with 2 missing pick , ALT1 is placed in this spot , then the top seed with an opponent receives a BYE, and opponent of this seed is moved to face the ALT.
-If you have more then 2 ALTS , ALT 3 will play the lowest ranked player remaining without an opponent, and so on.
-If no ALT's are available with 2 missing picks in same match, best loser will advance to take place in next round

1 MISSING PICK per MATCH (MOST COMMON)

-List the matches with missing picks , and compare the ranking of the players that have sent (not those that are missing)
-Lowest on your entry list will face ALT 1, next lowest ALT 2, etc.
-any matches remaining with missing picks after ALT's are placed, receive a walkover to the next round.

DOUBLES

-works the same , 1 missing pick on a team is the same as 2 missing players picks on a team , they get replaced if an ALT team both send picks
-only replaced on Day 1 of 2 in Round 1 , Day 2 no replacements

EXCEPTIONS

-if there are more ALT's then missing picks, the ALT's not getting to play are able to replace missing picks of players having RD1 BYES, as is such for RD48 in CHALLENGERS, if these ALT'S not placed send again for RD2, and a player that had a BYE does not send, the ALT would be placed into round 2 , with the same as round 1 rules, replacing the lowest ranked on the entry list that a seed with BYE is a missing pick against.

-it can get more complicated then this, once in a week 2 event we had 3 matches with 2 missing picks, that will take much more thought and close examining of rules if occurs again.
it's a rare case to have anything other then what is listed here.
OTHER ISSUES

-Grey cells do not work in doubles sheet oop results, just copy singles results over and paste, unless you are able to fix yourself (some have)

-Setting in J 20 first round yes, if you put this on, will give PTS 1-3 , I find messy, PTS1 does fine most times with it off, when even diffs (there are exceptions when this is good to have on)

-B43 sets to winner in results is not on automatically, this is best on, especially for QF and F , 2 day rounds

-Stats page on management sheet, always good to post stats with diffs
MOST IMPORTANT POINTS

1. Thread opened timely with proper page 1 information

2. Entry list properly maintained , and posted in thread at proper times

3. Draws posted promptly after final deadline

4. OOP minimum 12 hours before start of play

5.OOP in PM to players QR1 and RD1

6. Diffs on time (most important factor to a good event)

7. Proper scoring of matches and accurate results

8. Always refer to TB thread for scoring matches

9. Have rules thread in subscriptions for quick reference

10. Personalize and make tournament more interesting with photo/headers/stats/etc.

11. Lastly be informative and attentive, check in an hour or so after posting OOP/DIFFS/RESULTS , and if issues fix promptly if possible
I have no experience with Spreadsheets outside of these TT sheets , and have made every error possible with both, so hope to help streamline others new to these sheets, and make the beginning on managing a much easier process

Re: New TT Managers / Spreadsheet Tips

SCORING 101 FOR TENNIS TIPPING

How to Score a Match

1) correct picks

Code:
the player who has more correct picks is the winner
in the case of a tie in the number of correct picks the winner should be determined by this order:

2) set ratios

Code:
player A wins if he has more correct set ratios than player B.
in case there is a tie in the number of correct SRs, you should use the Set to Winner (incorrect 21 picks) method.

3) (incorrect 21 picks)

Code:
all incorrect picks will be compared, and the player with the most incorrect 2-1 picks will win.
---> if this fails to provide a winner, then the tie break method is used.

Next step

- matches in the order of play will be labeled PTS (Predict- The-Score) which will require players to predict the score for tie break purposes, such as 64 63 or 76 76 for example, these matches will be labeled PTS1 to (How ever many matches in A Round 1 of Q or MD, and only 1 PTS match every round after), with PTS1 being the first used to settle the tie, if it can't be settled thru PTS1, we would move down the order to PTS2 , PTS3 , etc. , in a RD1, in subsequent rounds we use PTS1 then Count Back if still Tied.

4) tie breaks (based on PTS1 match first)

-in case Player A chose the correct winner for the PTS1 match while Player B didn´t => Player A wins
-in case Player A and player B chose the correct winner for the PTS1 match and only one has the correct set ratio for that match, then the Player with the correct set ratio wins
-in case player A and player B chose the incorrect winner for the PTS1 match and only one has the incorrect set ratio 21 (versus 20) for that match, then the player with the incorrect 21 set ratio wins , this is displayed as sets to winner

---> In case Player A and Player B chose the correct winner or both chose loser for the PTS1 match and both have the correct/incorrect Set Ratio for that match, winner should be determined by this next methods in PTS1 Match (Predict-The-Score) :

5) tie breaks (POINTS - BASED ON YOUR SCORES PICKED)

a) correct order of sets (co)-> prediction of the correct winner of one or more sets.

Code:
o 1 set – 1 point
o 2 sets – 4 points
o 3 sets – 7 points
o 4 sets – 10 points
o 5 sets – 13 points
b) correct scorelines (cs) -> prediction of the exact score of a set won by a player:

Code:
o 1 set – 3 points
o 2 sets – 6 points
o 3 sets – 9 points
o 4 sets – 12 points
o 5 sets – 15 points
[COLOR=blue]o bonus of 2 points for each score line predicted in the correct set.
[/COLOR]
c) total of PTS points (PTS):

o PTS = CO + CS

Sample
player A chose : 6-4 6-3
player B chose : 7-6 6-4
actual match score 63 62

player A CO (4) + CS (3) = total 7
player B CO (4) + CS (0) = total 4
Player A wins

---> If you can't find a winner after all this, in QR1 or RD1, you progressively go through the next PTS matches, and in rare cases where it can not be settled this way, it will progress to GD (game differences) , which can be found in rules section, manager will look up and apply, but rarely used.

--->In all other rounds then QR1/RD1 , PTS1 is followed by tournament count back, comparing all previous round scores, starting with WINNERS ONLY, then SR'S , and If still not settled back 1 round at a time. (This actually is used reasonably often in later rounds of events, with smaller OOP's in SF & F)

QUICK SUMMARY
--->If all is tied with same score overall of WINNERS / SR / INCORRECT 21 PICKS , Matches are then settled using first match in OOP, by comparing that match , first comparing the WINNER, then comparing the SET RATIO, then comparing if 1 player has an incorrect 21 and the other does not, if all remains tied after all this, points scoring comes into play using the actual 64 63 for example, and using the formulas to determine the winner. everything is exhausted in the First match, but if remains tied moves to 2nd, then 3rd then 4th, etc, IN RD1 , otherwise Count Back in subsequent rounds.

COMMON SCORING ISSUE WITH NEW PLAYERS

-not understanding PTS , which if tied is WINNER then SR then ISR before actual points scoring
-not understanding Sets to winner, which is 1 point for every 21 losing pick , and is the 3rd Tie Breaking method, and only used if Winners and SR's are Tied
-not understanding how scores are listed, which is winners in front of matches, then SR's after
05:05 | [email protected] (ITA) vs. (7) doghater (RUS) #SRs: 3-3, # Sets to the winner: 1-1, PTS1

-not understanding how ties will be settled, hopefully this will help, and make the season easier for some.

Re: New TT Managers / Spreadsheet Tips

PTS (Predict-The-Score) Described/explained

PTS = Predict-the-score
OOP = Order of play
SR = Set ratio (20 or 21)
ISR = Incorrect set ratio / losing 21 picks (21 vs 20) / Listed as SETS TO WINNER

-In our OOP and matches to be picked from , there will be TIE breaking matches listed first as PTS

-Round 1 (Q & MD) will have all PTS matches , all other rounds just 1 PTS match

-when you see PTS at the end of a match, it means you should pick a score , such as 76 67 64 for example or 63 62

-when you see SR at the end of a match it means you should pick a Set Ratio , such as 20 or 21 (30/31/32) for Grand slams

-The reason for these PTS matches are to settle matches that end up TIED with WINNING PICKS and CORRECT SET RATIOS plus SET TO WINNER (losing 21 picks)

-PTS1 is the first match listed in the OOP , and is the priority match to settle TIES.

-Progression of PTS1 match is WINNER (having correct and opponent not) >SR (having correct and opponent not) >ISR (losing 21 pick vs 20)

-If still TIED we then use the scores picked as in 64 63 or 76 76 for example

- from those scores we use a formula of correct order plus correct set scores

-after all this if all remains tied we do all over again for PTS2 , then PTS3 then PTS4 , ETC
for any Round 1 (Q & MD) , any other round PTS1 is followed by tournament COUNT BACK

-COUNT BACK also has an order, STARTING with comparing WINNERS in ALL PREVIOUS ROUNDS of MD (Q not included), if combined sum is TIED , then next SR COUNT BACK (combined all previous rounds) , if still TIED , then Previous ROUND COUNT BACK , if still tied 2 players should stop copying each others picks :wink2:

ALT or LUCKY LOSER PLACEMENT BASICS

ALT = Player committing after FINAL DEADLINE and before start of PLAY (CHALLENGER main draw or ATP Q) , or players at end of entry list in full event.

LUCKY LOSER = Player losing in FQR , best losers are first to enter main draw and replace any missing picks.

After Final deadline for receiving picks , missing picks are replaced by ALTS/LL in CHALLENGER RD1 and QR1/RD1 ATP

2 MISSING PICKS SAME MATCH

- If there is a match with 2 missing picks, it takes placement priority , ALT1/LL1 and ALT2/LL2 will be placed in this spot

Here's how to find the name of a player in the TT management speradsheet and paste their picks right away instead of manually searching their name every time and waste hours of your time:

1. Mark the first row containing player names. At this point by default these are not formatted as actual text in Excel but are formulas like =A2 =A3 and so on, as the sheet pulls the names from players list.

Screenshot: https://paste.pics/275d16655f7efe4f3ce688ca50521274

2. Copy the whole row (CTRL +C)

Screenshot: https://paste.pics/d86de0d1a008ca8da83d0e16c3687b45

3. Straightaway click the arrow below Paste in the top left corner, and then click the button Paste Values from the dropdown (the one circled in red in the screenshot below). This needs to be done while the whole row is selected - ignore the fact that in the screenshot only cell A93 is selected (screenshot wasn't working properly)

Screenshot: https://paste.pics/483b96934bfe3fbc445580114977eb1a

Repeat these three steps for all rows in the sheet containing player names

4. Click on any random cell in the sheet (it needs to be only one cell) and use the find function (CTRL + F). Type the name of the player you need or just a small part of their name that doesn't repeat in another player's name. Lowercase and uppercase letters also don't matter here.

Screenshot: https://paste.pics/bf003870b0db3d1e9ce30ca0366f59ac

Example: You want to paste the picks of the player goOudinUSA. By typing "oudin" in the search window you will still jump to him, doesn't matter that your search term is in the middle of the nickname, and that you are changing an uppercase with a lowercase letter.

5. Click ENTER and the sheet will show you that player. Click ENTER multiple times (maximum 2-3 times needed) until it shows you the place in the sheet where the diffs are inputted. This is because the first 1-2 times when you use the search function it usually shows you the entry lists in singles and doubles in the top left corner.

You can now see from the screenshot below that instead of =A2 =A3 and so on, the value of the cell is the actual name of the player, in this case a1canada.

Screenshot: https://paste.pics/b86a499e16b760fa6bac939b10c1c2b9

What this Paste as Values function does is replace the value of the cell from a formula to the actual text. This enables you to use the search and find function and paste player picks straightaway.

Note that all of this works only if you use a different Excel Workbook for each round in singles and doubles.

If someone has difficulties or this doesn't work for them, let me know please and I will make a video. But it is really simple and easy and you shouldn't have problems.
