I already thought a longer time about opening such a thread, because we have it in the Swedes forum (ok, not very active atm ;) ) and in some others as well, but as we are such a great community here in the Nando forum (from my point of view the best on whole MTF) it would be great to get to know how it looks like where you all live :) And when Nathy posted about the languages in Switzerland, I was thinking again how nice it would be to see pics where everyone lives and I decided to create this thread directly :)

Of course you can also post pics of fave holiday destinations or whatever places you like ;)

So I will start .... here are some pics from my hometown Hamburg including the lake Alster, the harbour, Speicherstadt and the famous church "Michel"

I doubt there are pics of the place where I live (the flemish country ;) ) so I will post some pics of Bruges, the biggest city near my home, and Ghent, where I spend most of my time during the academic year.

This is the "Markt" in Bruges, kind of the centre:

These are scenes in Ghent:

This is "gravensteen", a medieval castle in Ghent:

Is that enough?lol

City hall (old one, people only get married here now)

I think this is the highest building in our city centre:

no, but I heard stories... it's forbidding to open it in flats  and you should never open the can in your kitchen. it's advised to do it outside. my parents tried it once and they said it was horrible, absolutely yuck. they brought another can home from Sweden again :scared:

I have tried something which is a bit less :bolt:, but it's still yuck. it's called hakarl or something. it's Icelandic rotten shark bits which are soaked in ammonia... you can imagine.

back to topic?lol

Hi Becky! :wavey: [Maybe this is the time to tell you all to call me Hanna. Why did I never think of that? ;)]

I live in Leverkusen, an industrial town in the West of Germany, best known for its football team (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and the Bayer factory. It's not really a beautiful place but it has its moments. ;) Probably the best thing is that it only takes 20 minutes to drive to Cologne which is a much more exciting town with ultimately better shops. :D

A map first ...

This is an overview of some part of the city, dominated by the factories.

The main precinct "Wiesdorfer Platz" - nothing there, not even people.

Our town hall, unfortunately not the ugliest building in town at all.

The Bayer main office building when it was dressed like a pack of Aspirin.

Our emblem and the main landmark, the Bayer cross.

And to come to the beautiful part of it: This is the street where I live. It's on the very outskirts of the town, when I look out of my window I see horses grazing, so ultimately I love living here. :)

It's all very "Bayer" here, we even have a "Bayer department store".
