Couldn't he still make it as an alternate? You never know what happens. He got in in 2005 and won it after other players withdrew :shrug:.

Anyone who can beat Fed, "deserves" to be in Shanghai. Its a disaster that Volandri won't make it.

The mug has lost to Pless and Kunitsyn this year and has spent most of the year stuffing his face and rallying. He doesn't deserve to go to Shanghai.

I don't really think David deserves to be there, to be honest. He has not played well this year for the most part. Murray even being IN the hunt is impressive considering he missed half the year. Gotta go with Murray for most deserving candidate.

Well....the numbers tell the story. If you win 2 masters events and you still don't have enough points to qualify at the year's end (especially when the point total needed to qualify is historically low) it means the rest of your year was REALLY dismal.

I like David too, but he hasn't made much effort for most of the year.

Nalbandian was not even close of qualifying for a moment, so it is not a shock. He has sucked all year, so one Masters win does not change anything.
