The Argentine, who captured his first ATP Masters Series shield in Madrid (d. Federer) last week, improves to 26-18 this year and has an outside chance of qualifying for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai next month. He is currently No. 25 in the ATP 2007 Race.
This was posted today after his win over Almagroo!

Yes, he has a chance, but it is only 1%.

He has to win the title, and hope that no-one between 8 and 15 reaches SF or better, or 16-17 don't reach the final.

I like Nalbi but this tardism doesn't help  . David has a mathematical chance, but it's minuscule, MUCH less than 1%. Instead of asking for the impossible why can't we be just happy that he's back in the business?

Why is Pics only mathematically safe and not a certainty? I can't remember-- what crazy thing would have to happen for Ferrer not to go to Shanghai?
Mathematically safe = certainty.

That's what the term means, what did you perceive it to mean?
