We always hear how Nadal's 25-7 slam record vs Djokovic, Federer and Murray combined is a red herring or inflated because of clay but incredibly enough outside of RG it is :

3-3 vs Djokovic
4-2 vs Federer
5-2 vs Murray

which is 12-7 still! So you take Nadal's best slam away(which is wrong in itself unless you do the same for the others) and he is still a whooping 12-7 lead. Surely there is more to Nadal's dominance than just it because a surface/slam thing?

Who doesn't give Nadal credit outside clay? The only surface Nadal gets less to none credit lately is on grass but the reasons are obvious

On hardcourts though Nadal gets the deserved credit by the non-haters

I am talking about H2H, not in general. You hear excuses for 9-2 and 9-3 from Fedovic fans all the time citing RG as the main reason for it.

Rafa doesn t get the credit he should. Why is it that he only wins when other choke? Or werent feeling good etc.

He won Summer HC swing and he played almost every player.

Now on grass i dont think his knees can let him play like hu use to or wanted too.

Its not about GS.Rafa at BO5 when is healthy and in shape can beat anyone anywhere, even on ice xd :p
problem are smaller tournaments at hc.that is where he cant keep his form long enoguh and he can be suprised more easly than his rivals in earlier rounds.

But still he is amazing all round player :)

Nadal doesn't get credit outside of clay? Huh? When he's been playing, he's always considered to be one of the favorites, or the favourite(most of the time, 2nd favourite after Djokovic) to win any HC title. Especially in the HC slams.

His knees looked fine to me during the grass season in 2014, and I don't remember him complaining about it, I think he said he felt fine. I don't think it's the knees, he's simply no longer good enough to do well on grass anymore.

I disagree with this. a lot of you on this forum seem to take for granted the mind exhaustion going through winning a slam right before does to a player. the mental tire from having gotten past that hurdle and then all the media blitz and then the pressure to perform well right afterwards. obviously besides Federer in 2009, no other player in the last 10 years has had to go from RG to WImbledon as the the champion of the former besides Nadal

it's not so easy to rebound and totally reset after a victory at another slam only weeks prior. again, I emphasize the victory part; winning a title is a big difference. like, say, only making the final of RG a player would probably be hungrier than ever when WImbledon comes

not saying that Nadal isn't hungry per say, but it just is not as easy as some think to do well at Wimbledon immediately after RG. and historically probably is why the RG/Wimb double is fairly rare
