NADAL IS EFFECTIVELY RETIRED AND TIMED IT BEAUTIFULLY

He won't play again. Mark my words. He effectively was done after FO last year as all those injections He took in the foot were going to take their toll.
The reality is He has effectively retired with the greatest career seen in men's tennis at the biggest events. Most Majors from the least amount played a totally dominant h2h against his great rivals at the Majors and the only one who got the Ollympic Gold. And he got the satisfaction if his last match v Djolovoc at a Major being a win which he didn't get against Roger.
Personally I'm delighted he has finally seen sense and I hope he doesn't play again as he has no need to play again. Farewell tours I think are tragic.
Sampras retired like a boss. Rafa hasn't done it as well but it's not far off as nobody will remember post FO 2022.

I am still hoping for a miracle that he can be healthy and play a little bit longer. But if he does not play any more match, I am also all right. He has given me so many pleasure, it is time for him to spend more time on his family.

Thanks for the memories Rafa, no other player can give me such pleasure and excitement whenever I watch them play. I am going to miss his jumping up and down when warming up, precise passing shots, beautifully executed drop shots........... and his warm attitude towards his fans but these memories will forever be cemented in my heart.:love:(y)(y)

Rosewall 23 Majors, 69 appearances (53 counting the first and the last major period)
Nadal 22, 67 appearances (59 during the first and the last major period)
Djokovic 22, 69 appearances (50 during the first and the last major period)
Federer 20, 81 appearances (56 during the first and the last major period)
Laver 19, 55 appearances (34 during the first and the last major period)

But Nadal definitely has the best record of anyone as long as the right qualifiers are added..... like "better record than any that do not fit the narrative!"

And with the right qualifiers, it even genuinely allows for greatest of all time without even needing to wait for all time to end.

Or, we could just go for: "he entertained and brought joy to a lot of supporters".

Counting the seasons:

Rosewall 23, 28 seasons (20 counting the first and the last major period)
Djokovic 22, 19 seasons (16 counting the first and last major period)
Nadal 22, 21 season (18 counting the first and last major period)
Federer 20, 23 seasons (16 counting the first and last major period)
Laver 19, 22 seasons (10 counting the first and last major period)

he will play again last year, maybe even the end of this season. he said that
It is a decision coming from a self-satisfied and self-content man.

Rafa thought he has won enough and he is happy with what he won. He decided not to be greedy to win more. It is the clay season and the RG season, where he could have been greedy and made 14 into 15, but he didn't want to be.

To me, personally, clay season doesn't feel like clay season. RG doesn't sound like RG. And the thought that Rafa will play only one more year on the tour, I am devastated beyond words. 😥 I am utterly shattered. 😢😢 I am completely crushed. 😭😭😭

Seasons is a bit tricky with Laver, and I would assume with Rosewall, given the whole pro/amateur thing.

But in the end, I think it is all a silly beat up. People believe what matters to them. We all have different criteria for things, so we come to different conclusions.

My only conclusion on who is GOAT is perhaps when all time is complete, I will think about it then. Well.... maybe I will have other things to think about then too. In the meantime, enjoy following whoever you like.

Really? He won 2 slams in 2022 and hard a huge winning streak on HCs. If that's what you remember him for you're a resentful fool.

How clever OP must be to know something Nadal doesn't.

I'm pretty certain Nadal WILL play again, when he's ready and wants to. He doesn't want to retire yet, but he isn't going to play till he's 100%.

The stupidity of MTF never ceases--people who have no way of knowing making bogus claims. They're always wrong, but they never learn to keep their mouths shut.

I Just listened to the actual statements he made, and he only said 2024 "probably gonna be my last year." Probably.

Are u new to tennis then?

Exactly. So perhaps you will retract your previous post.
Trust me he won't play again. If he is not training for a few months as he said and has other things to get on with at his age the allure of tennis will soon fade believe me. He is not the kind of person who looks back. Not his way.
You are perhaps confusing Nadal with Djokovic who has become obsessed with getting the same adulation of Nadal and respect and is all consumed with the Slam record. Rafa has the respect globally. He has the records that truly matter. What else has he to achieve? And personally I don't think he is the type for teary farewells. He is way too alpha
His AO 22 was legendary. Will be remembered forever. Nobody thought he was gonna win after his 2021 year.

Ao 2022 was historic and epic and movie worthy. FO 2022 more important though especially that QF with Djokovic.i said it at the time to friends that match was decisive and their last match at a Major.
But AO 2022 the far better story.

Who let this troll back out of his cave?

He timed nothing. His body clock stopped working.

At 37 that's kinda normal for a clean athlete in any sport mate. Age catches up with everyone ultimately

It is and yet he fought against it for four months, suffering everyday.

It is a fitting part of his story. He tortured himself for glory and a place innthe pantheon of tennis.
