I tuned into his match against Baghdatis and have noticed he has altered it again, using more of a Federer, swinging technique. Why does he change it now and again? He seemed to be slowly improving it since he changed back to his original action, now he has changed it again...

Anybody else noticed this, or did he change it a tournament or so before this?

His serve seems not to be such a weapon in this match. Before the hit his last movement does remind me or Federer Anyway, they both play crap, I can't actually believe I'm still watching this match

Federer has a swinging motion and uses the same ball throw for all kinds of serves (Slice, Flat, Kicked) That combination creates unpredictability which is why most of the time he gets a weak return in the middle of the court to put away with a lot of ease.

And of course Rafa knows he has to tune up his serve in order to kick more ass on the fast courts. So why not copy one of your rival's techniques for self improvement? I think it's good that he is experimenting on his serve because he knows that if improved it could be a major asset in the later part of his career.

Are you sure that is just not because he was getting a beating by Berdych?

I also noticed he had the federer toothless granny takeback going on, god knows why, it makes him serve worse

Funny that he seems pissed off by those ballgirls as well. Anyone else notice him dogging her on his second serve?
Hahah, noticed that as well... he seemed to be really pissed off by those, ehm, Toothpics. Good for him, love the guy for it! :worship:

Back on topic - it's obvious Raf is still working on improving his serve. He's trying out on things, and why not? Nothing wrong with copying some good shots from your Main Rival, even if it doesn't seem to work immediately.
