2011-2016 was actually pretty weak especially the later part. Federer basically absent for 2 seasons nadal absent for 2 seasons. Murray plagued by back issues. The biggest contenders a bunch of gen useless mugs.
The era is only strong in Djokovic fans‘ minds because he dominated it.
I agree that 2012 was a strong even year though
