It's become something of a tradition...Murray loses at the Australian Open and then mentally checks out for months on end losing to players with no business of being on the tour etc. I wonder if we'll see the same this year given how close he was to winning that semi...I sure hope not and hopefully Lendl will get him to refocus really quick. He did admirably well against the number 1 player in the world. To get down on himself now would be suicide :(

I said the same. i'm sure he will have a terrible hard court season. He will probably have a better clay court season with losses to top 3. Won't win anything big this year, book it.

Murray right now is the 2nd best player in the world. I have been harsh on him over the years but he's showed he can outplay djoker and expose him for a faking fluking fraud. If Nadal gets injured or misses tournaments Murray should win those. Good job Muzza taking Nole to 5 sets. Now lets see what this faker does against El Matador.

He came close to beating Djokovic and he's gonna keep pushing this year to threaten the #1 ranking, under the guidance of Lendl.

He did not check out. He clawed his way back into the fifth set, but it wasn't to be this time.
Stop bashing the guy.

Lendl will keep him under leash. I think he can tolerate for 1 year; after this he will revolt!

Lendle won't even allow him to practise with Nole or Rafa. Keeping him away from the fun ! I think Lendl even banned Mama Judy and only Kim Sears close to him.

I dont believe he will, there are LOTS more positive things to take after this match comparing to last 2 years.
Plus, Lendl won't allow him to do so

Fought brilliantly, almost won. Great match, he's getting better & muturing. He must continue to believe, nobody else coming through comes close to the level I saw tonight. Regardless of statements about Nole being under par etc, he crushes everyone else.

I like Rafa, but hope Nole disposses him in the final. Novak is the best just now.

Andy is getting there though :)

Agreed that Lendl isn't gonna put up with Murray checking out....Lendl isn't going to waste his time on a guy that isn't focused and giving full effort. Murray is a very stubborn guy but I don't think he would tune Lendl out so quickly, especially after a competitive result like this.

If anything, this loss should motivate him to work extra hard, it should be easier than 0-3 loss in the final. With Lendl, I´m sure he will do just that.

I didn't think he'll check out. This was very different than his last two losses. In the past two years he played terribly in his loss. He was the second-best player in the World in his loss last night, he just happened to be playing the best.

I would find this loss more devastating than last year's, but I'm not Lendl so I hoping he comebacks and makes a good run at the next master or two.

I am encouraged by what Murray said after the match particularly this...

"I think that gap, I feel tonight I closed it," said the world number four.

"My job over the next two or three months is to surpass him [Djokovic] and the guys in front of me."

You could not have said it any better. He should not feel sorry for himself. He should get angry and work on improving his new found positive attacking play. He was impressive today. He played grandslam winning tennis. He is nearly there, only needs the luck now.
