Re: Montreal Entry List (T/K)

There are limited number of tournaments you may enter using protected ranking. I haven't checked how Haas' PR situation looks at the moment, but it might be the reason.

Haas would be better off avoiding Masters tourns right now, play the 250 and 500's in the US and use his PR for US open too.

Outside of Pospisil and Dancevic, no one is a lock for a WC so could see Haas here or Hewitt...

Indeed, the fields at Masters 1000s are a lot tougher than at Slams, so on average it will be harder to win a match (even though you can't meet the top 8 in the first round).

Re: Montreal Entry List (updated July 16, 2015)

im really interested about wild cards too.

pospisil has one. dancevic seems like he will get one for his loyalty in davis cup

im going to guess the other 2 will go to peliwo and schnur. although, to be honest i would think that both of them would be better served to try and qualify. not sure why people speak highly of schnur. i have seen him play and there's nothing special there. however i think that his getting to the QF in the pan am games will help him out

qualy wild cards will probably go to polansky, bester, diez and maybe tabilo.

5 WC spots? I thought it was 4?

Anyway, outside of Vasek the WC situation is wide open for me. I'd imagine they give Dancevic one. After that you have Polansky, Schnur, Peliwo, and Bester.

Polansky could get one because he qualified here 2 years ago and took a set off Nishikori. Peliwo for playing davis cup though he really should play qualies instead. Schnur qualifed in Toronto last year, they might reward him with one but should probably be in qualies as well. Bester probably not but you never know.

Depends on if they want to give any to other players who couldn't get in. I'm thinking they'll go Vasek, Dancevic, Schnur, and some non Canadian.
So far Polansky is helping his case in Granby by comfortably taking out Becker. If he strings a few more wins together, makes a lot more sense to give him the WC than Schnur. It should be Pospisil, Dancevic, Polansky/Peliwo, and then a Lleyton Hewitt type.

Re: Montreal Entry List (updated July 16, 2015)

Isn't Pospisil's ranking high enough to not need the WC? Is it because of when the entry list came out?

As far as the suggestion for Auger-Aliassime, let's not rush him too quickly, maybe he gets a WC into the qualy draw, the Vancouver Challenger is the week before as well and he may or may not be there.

Definitely just a qualy WC.

You could have Dancevic/Polansky/Pospisil in MD and then Peliwo/Schnur/Auger-Aliassime/Bester for QF WC's. They usually keep one WC for a big name, non-Canadian player

list came out mid Wimbledon iirc, he's the 13th alternate so would need quite a few withdrawals to get in and have them give someone else the WC. Unlikely at best.

with Peter losing and Bester moving on(and will probably make SF) I could see them giving him one and putting Peter in the qualies. Has Bester every had a MD WC? Can't remember one, maybe when he was younger as he was a good junior
