Indeed, Russian tennis has no problem producing solid WTA players in numbers, even our C team in Fed Cup ( who is Russian #5 and #6 now? Say, Kournikova/Zvonareva ) would be a tough nut to crack for any team except for US and perhaps Belgium. But on ATP we can't get any depth. Stoliarov is not big hope. Davydenko could, perhaps, improve more, but he once said that he has little desire to play in Davis Cup team. All good juniors ( Vlasov, Tursunov, Ivanov-Smolenski, Derepasko, Mukhometov ) don't seem to be able to get it together on Pro circuit. And every promising talent of last 3-4 years seem to fade. So Misha's rise is very welcome. If Russia wins Davis Cup this year, he'll be the one defending it next year.
