Miami R2: Kiwi with an unexpected, easy 6:3, 6:2 win over Nieminen

Impressive serve stats in contrast to what he showed us in the past weeks. After that close win against GGL, I didn't expect anything. Thanks for proving me wrong. :)

Was down 0:40 on own serve at 2*:1 in the 2nd set, but saved 5 bps in total. As it often happens, he then managed to break Nieminen a 2nd time.

This doesn't look good for Jarkko. If he doesn't improve, he will struggle with Anderson in DC.

I hope Kiefer's good play was the reason for this scoreline. :yeah:

Kiwi :bounce: back-to-back wins ;)

Too bad he wasted the better draw in Indian Wells with an early loss, now he won two matches and has Nadal waiting relatively early :(

To be nominated for Davis Cup, he must beat him to send the notice to Kühnen

Nieminem is horrible right now.

Nice to see Kiefer with back to back wins, I hope he beats Nadal :D

I didn't follow the scoreboard and I haven't looked at the stats. Let me guess...Jarkko's serve let him down again.

Well...good win Kiefer.

For a few months during the winter Jarkko was in full army training as well as competing in professional tennis in his weeks off -- maybe something broke down in him due to too much work/pressure.

But he started the season off with a very good tournament(s) in Australia

Well he went back into the army right after that when he should have been resting, which can't have helped.

Kiefer has actually a good Rafa-roasting capability. He definetly can do it with his big game, the question is mostly his head. If he plays like in his best days, Rafa better watch out.

Nice and confident win for Kiwi. it will be a tough decision for Patrick Kuehnen who to nominate for Davis Cup. he'll probably end up picking both Kiefer and Haas due to the lack of options. Waske and Kohlmann are not fit yet, Mayer isn't able to win matches. Maybe Petschner as the 4th man to have at least one doubles specialist.
