First set was very tight, but the German held on after being up a break originally in the set. Both guys had several openings in each's service games but it was Phau who got out to a 4-*0 lead in the tiebreaker and he won it from there. 24-6 points differential in the second set. Good service numbers overall for Bjorn.

With this win, Phau is up to #94 provisionally in the world. Back inside the top 100 for the first time since February, 2011. He plays Michael Russell or Tim Smyczek for a place in the MD.

He's had a great season. Won two big challengers, qualified for the AO, SF of Dallas. After last season being a major struggle, 2012 has been surprising pleasant for Phau. I'm very happy as a fan to see this resurgence.
