Miami QF: [2] Nadal def. [6] Tsonga 6-2 5-7 6-4

Thank Tennis Jesus this shit finally ended. Very mediocre match overall, quality wise. Nadal is lucky Tsonga has terrible footwork and that his talent far surpasses his skill level.

Very up and down match. Tsonga probably should have taken it in the end but he really mugged it up...

Tsonga just completely lost his mind at the end after playing some beautiful tennis to come back and force a 3rd set.

Nadal choking like a mug.

But Clownga is Clownga and will never defeat Nadal in this type of match like he defeated Federer years ago.

Utter shithouse match. Nadull playing like shit and still a top 10 player like Clownga can't beat him.

Nadull cheating like always calling for the trainer to rub his knees every 2 games and then fistpumping jumping in the air when he broke.

NID

Hopefully Murray destroys this cheater.

Rafa starting to lose some mental grit he was best know for. Tsonga was just unlucky with too many bad calls

Delayed Clownga. Kneedal a true spartan- could barely move with that tendinitis.

Tsonga's backhand was terribad in this match. Just couldn't hit through the court today and the errors, oh god the errors.

Rafa's knee not doing well by the end - he was visibly grimacing. So we'll see how he does vs Murray.

Important win though - not pretty - he really struggles to hold serve now - especially when serving for a set/match. Still - if he has to lose - a SF loss to Murray is better than QF to Tsonga. SF in IW and Miami are good results considering the tendinitis. He'll have a shot at Murray if he plays like he has so far this tournament i.e. both of them patchy.

Now he needs good friend David to pull off a miracle vs Novak tomorrow as he's not beating Novak on one knee even if gets past the rest...

Indeed. Nadal is way more concentrated in the match than Tsonga.

In my opinion that's what made the difference.

It was a bad match. Rafa really wasn't good at any particular area tonight. Tsonga just doesn't have the temperament to win a match like this. His footwork is the WORST of all elite players overall and he made horrible errors for 1.5 sets, but as soon as he re-energized when Rafa's level dipped and he sensed an opening, he started moving his feet better and playing more aggressive. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't keep it up.

Nadal looks to have no confidence, is not 100% physically, and is lucky he came through after getting extremely tight at the end of the third set in the final game.

Some late night drama. Rafa was pretty good for the first set, though Tsonga was awful so it was tough to tell. Then he threatened to turn this into "Dodig: The Encore." His new found mental muggery costing him a routine straight sets win. Then Tsonga started to execute, was making less errors, while Nadal was dropping the ball short. Tsonga's poor returning cost him the chance to put Nadal under some real pressure in the middle of the third set and then he started to make more errors and Nadal eventually stumbled and crawled over the finish line.

i don't think rafa is going to stand a chances against novak or the pitbull ferrer. these two are way too consistent and frugal in unforce errors unlike tsonga
